Keep the faith!!
Ended up telling a friend about the idea and he seemed positive about, so I suggested we did it together. One of the stumbling blocks with it, was I thought it was going to be costly to create and time consuming to manage. But figured with two people, it split the risk and the work, then it would be cool.
He was fine with that. I designed it, got it created and then he was going to pay half the cost. His role was going to be to promote it.
During this time, another friend who was involved in IM, heard about the idea and told us that he didnt think it wasn't going to work. I didn't get him to go into detail, mainly because I'm stubborn when it comes to an idea I have. I always think they will work, nobody is going to tell me otherwise and I need to actually try and fail to see that it wont.
Anyway, about a week later, the guy that I was supposed to be doing it with, pulled out. He hadn't actually paid me any money for getting the site created anyway, so it wasn't a big deal, but his role was promotion and he said he wasnt going to have the time to do it, so felt he should withdraw.
Over the following few weeks, I then had to assume the role of promoting the site, as well looking after the technical side. I got a friend who works for an SEO company to do a full report on it. She gave me advice and I spent a few weeks, fixing all her suggestions.
Although she also chose to inform me that she didnt think the site would work either. Great!
Needless to say, after a couple of negative comments suggesting it wouldn't work, I started to lose a little interest in the idea. I still believed it had potential, but when others didnt, it affected my motivation.
A couple of days later though, I got my first sale. $67!!! The effort that had gone into it, was finally worth it!! A few days later, I got my second sale. Yay.
Whether you are struggling product seller, affiliate marketer, or like me, just have an idea, this story is just to say, don't give up. Keep the faith. Try not to let others get you down. There will always be skeptics out there. Look at the tv show Dragons Den. How many stories are there where the Dragons have slated a product, only for it to then go on and be successful??
That is all.
