Best way to package info products ?

I'm about to start work on some "how-to" information products and am not sure what is the best way to make them available.

PDF e-books ? Good, but can be shared easily
Password-protected website ? Less easy to share, but feels less tangible as website could disappear
Printed Hardcopy book ? Less of an impulse purchase because people know they have to wait for it

So, what's the current thinking as to which is "best" ?

I'm sure this isn't the answer you're looking for but....

"Best" depends on the market/niche the product is in, how you're going to market the product... and oh a ton of other factors.

This may help us help you - what markets will your "how-to" products be in?

      Hi Danielle,

My market is musicians, bands & singers looking to break into the music industry and make money from their music.

I'll be marketing to my list of 4000+, plus using Google Adwords which I've used for 7 years.

Yeah, it depends on the market you are working on.

    Hi there Rjay

Hmmm music isn't my main market, so I'm only able to make assumptions here:

I'm assuming most musicians/band singers are going to enjoy video/interactive product delivery methods over say ebooks.

That's because they're generally more creative/audio and visually stimulated. So I'm leaning towards websites with video webcasts right now - It seems like it would be 'easier' on them.

Would be interested in what others had to say on this matter though

Well, I'm currently running a poll on my website asking whether people prefer to learn by reading, listening or watching. About 40% say Reading, with 60% saying Watching and 0% saying Listening.

The difficult is that it's difficult topic to "show" in a video other than me just talking.

*nods* Well, as you can see video is the leading result even in your poll there - you might consider doing this then:

Create it as an ebook with bonus video modules. That way they can have both a 'tangible' product with the video (it's okay if it's just you talking, as long as you're sharing valuable info) boosting its value

A pdf by itself is a good place to start, but once you make more and more sales, you'll also lose more and more to pirates. Use pdf locking software so that you can immediately revoke access if needed. The e-junkie method that stamps the purchasers info on every page of the pdf works quite well too.

If you're concerned about sharing, try creating and email course or a membership site. From how I see it, such sites are more difficult to "share".

But don't you think delivering content by membership site feels less tangible to the (potential) customer than a PDF ?
