Speak and write software

Hello Warriors,

I am looking for preferably a free or cheap software where I can talk and it types.

I am a better talker than typer and I think that articles written like this would read better.

Any ideas

All the best

Danny

Dragon Naturally Speaking is under $100 for the standard edition, well worth the money and should pay for itself within a month(if you use it of course).

It looks like a free program but - it seems you have to make a 'phone call to actually use this - how much would that cost, I wonder?

Looks like using their program is free. . . I suspect the only charge would be whatever long distance charges you would normally be charged for calling outside of your area.

Which could be expensive I suppose!

I wouldn't think it was what you were looking for, Danny - not for article writing.

To be honest, personally of course, with article writing I normally put everything down on paper (well I type from short handwritten notes and ideas) and if I was to use a speech to text converter of any kind it would be hard pressed to decipher my umms and errs while my brain got into gear!! I would also spend more time editing the resulting text so it probably wouldn't be worth it!

I've yet to find a really good (and not highly expensive!) piece of software - Dragon seems one of the more popular ones, though.

I have been using Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking home edition since about 2 months and am pretty happy with it. It does not take long to adapt the s/w to your style of speaking.

    Good luck.
