What is the purpose of the article?

If you're just looking for cheap articles to put out there for backlinks or whatnot, you might get away with paying a penny a word.

If you want a high-quality article people will actually want to read and that you'll get a good ROI on, you might pay as much as $1 a word, or more.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

    Absolutely!

What purpose do you want the articles?

Personally, I prefer using articles that are 800-1000 words that speak strongly to my audience, while hopefully segregating the audience into general audience and prospects. My end goal is to get the prospects to my website to consider the action I want them to take.

That kind of article is worth whatever you pay for it in most circumstances, because it will usually be able to deliver buying customers to your website in volume.

But if you are only looking for a few links, any $10 an article writer could do the trick for you.

It depends on how you define "cheap".

If you mean it as in "not paying much money" then, as Dan says, you can pay pennies. However if you mean "cheap" as in "the price I paid was cheap compared to my ROI" then you will actually have to invest in your business.

Cheap and good generally come at opposite ends of the spectrum unless you choose the second definition

    Just my opinion of course.

The saying "you get what you pay for" is big here. Cheap articles generally suck. I say generally because sometimes you will find a literal "diamond in the rough." This is essentially someone who provides great content but doesn't realize they are undercutting themselves.

In my own experiences I have never found anybody to write me great content for under $50 per article.

Cheap and good articles? That's the perfect oxymoron.

I suggest investing in a good writer... It takes a true writing artist to captivate your reader and direct them towards purchase.

And you may pay more upfront, but you generally make a LOT more later as a result.

I think you gotta pay attention to what I have to say here...

The cheapest source of articles I know of is the Philippines (some say India).

    Here's what you do

Go to ReplaceMyself.com or bestjobs.ph or onlinejobs.ph and pay to be a member (employer).

Hire a full time writer instead of the old freelancer.

Note: What's the catch? You have to really filter and choose a good writer. There are good writers. You just have to find them. Usually, they range about $250 to $500 a month. Email at least 20 writers and you'll find your good writer.

Ask them to write 5-7 articles a day. Make sure he or she is ok with the workload and the working hours. Then you're good to go. Do the math and you'll see.

I agree with Dan as well.

If you want just a bunch of words and not quality then you can even go for Fiverr. (Although, I've found a guy on Fiverr that can easily charge $50 a piece for his quality )

whereas if you want quality content for your readers then I think you can find someone who'll do it for you for $35 (350-500 words).

  • Do yourself a favor a forget about CHEAP articles because Google will treat your site like it's CHEAP as well.

I pay my writers 20 bucks per 1000 words for most of my client's projects - some less depending on the material. We live and die by content - don't ever go cheap.

Really good writers are never going to be inexpensive.

But again, article is about quality, so make sure you get quality.

Really? How much have you spent on other things in your life? Some people (and not claiming you here) spend allot of cash in bars, on cars, wasteful holidays, toys, games, sporting goods, etc.

For 20 dollar per 1000 words you could get a really good writer. You could spend 80 bucks a month to have one very strong post written on a tight-niche blog once a week and start growing steady traffic over time.

Or have 100 "cheap" articles posted on a blog, and get almost ZERO traffic.

You don't have any choice - HIGH quality content or die. The competition is fierce, smart, and determined.

Why not write them yourself, if you have no money?

You cannot expect to get quality articles at cheap prices. That is like asking for fast and free traffic.

      • There are advantages in writing the articles yourself for a while (beyond the money savings). I think it helps shape your goals for your site- for example, do you want short articles or long ones? Serious or slightly humorous? That in turn makes it easier to hire the best writers for your goals.
