Make My Own Affiliate Program Or Click Bank?

I'm thinking if I should make my own affiliate program for my products or just use Click Bank. I know Click Bank is probably the easiest route to go. Anybody want to share with me some pros and cons?

No matter what you choose you will still need to create an affiliate page so that you can tell people what they get in return for promoting your product.

The only real benefit to clickbank is that the affiliate can promote it without having to join a list. When you start making sales it will also feature in the marketplace and affiliates can find your product rather than you having to find affiliates.

Overall just remember that simply listing on clickbank won't automatically generate a large number of affiliates desperate to promote.

Couldn't agree more with Andrew. Might also suggest you have a look at eJunkie - it is clunky, but very inexpensive and simple so possibly a nice place to dip your toes in the water.

Speaking from experience on both Clickbank and eJunkie, you MUST market yourself to affiliates - they do not come to you in droves, and even if folks do find you, more often than not I've had to educate affiliates on marketing advice. Having said that, when you find one or two really good affiliates, it makes the whole thing worth it.

    I agree with photodrew.

If you're a product vendor (whichever service you choose; ClickBank or your own private affiliate program), then you should be spending 80% of your time helping and building relationships with your affiliates.

After all, they are your main money making system.

If you're not a well-known vendor, a great advantage of using Clickbank, DigiResults or a similar service, is that you can attract affiliates who don't need to be concerned about being dependent on the reliability of the vendor for their payment.

Setting up a campaign as an affiliate, to promote someone else's product, typically involves the expenditure of quite some energy/time/effort/money, and at least with "Clickbank products", serious professional affiliates feel assured that there's comparatively little danger of us investing all that only to find that we don't get paid afterwards because the vendor turned out to be untrustworthy.

In short, using Clickbank or DigiResults, in contrast to using "PayDotCom" or a vendor's own affiliate-system, removes one of the major reasons for "reluctance"/"doubts" on the part of potential affiliates. Unless you're a very well known vendor with an outstanding reputation and your own affiliates already lined up and waiting, it's worth it just for that reason.

Where would you place on your scale above the "own" systems run by RAP - which splits the payments between vendor and affiliates? e.g. at 50% one payment goes to the vendor, one to the affiliate...

The payment is instant and independent of the vendor. OK, you need to believe that RAP is set up to rotate the payments at the percentage announced on the affiliate page...

Ooh, as high as anything, I think? From the affiliate's perspective, one isn't reliant on an "unknown vendor" for payment? And of course Sid himself is clearly well known and well established enough in these parts for Warriors to be confident of dealings with RAP? For myself, anyway, I must say I wouldn't hesitate ...

Also Payspree (mentioned just above) and of course Andy Fletcher's so-promising DigiResults (which can even work in conjunction with Clickbank).

            Notice a common message here?
A "large pool of affiliates" can get you some initial exposure, but doesn't guarantee that even one of those will promote your product. You should plan on shifting your marketing efforts toward affiliates, and let them pre-sell their prospects.

That's not to say that there is no value in a "pool of affiliates", but it's just a starting point, and there are many other places to find them.

Both appear to be very good alternatives to Clickbank (in fact, preferable to Clickbank), but both are services - with ongoing costs.

The initial cost of RAP, soon pays for itself, as there are NO ongoing fees, and there is a much bigger "pool of affiliates" (if you feel you need that) available for RAP-driven products at RAP Bank*Instant Commissions Vault

            I (of course) think it's a "no-brainer"

My vote goes to clickbank. The big advantage of cb is an army of affiliates who are waiting for new products.

Also check out Payspree ($29 one time payment for as many product as you wish). You can have regular products, recurring products and dimesales . Similar to RAP but easier and less pricey. Payments go instantly and directly to Paypal accounts.

I have used it for a while and have had excellent results.
