Newbie needing help - Please?

Hey everyone I'm very NEW at internet marketing and I wanted to ask a quick question. So I'm hoping there are some folks out there that can help. I have a music blog and I wanted to get it to come up at the top of the search engines. I've read so much information and have tried some tactics that were mentioned here. I was trying bookmarking, forum account registration and similar thing like that. Setting up accounts with links back to my music blog.

The real question I have is how come none of those links are not showing up in google when I take my www-dot-mydomain-dot-com and type into google? I've been following a website and following some of the tactics the website owner is doing and when I search www-dot-theirdomain-dot-com it brings up links to the places they have bookmarked their websites and forums but I can't seem to make mine come up. I know I'm very new to this so this might be stupid but I'm only trying to learn so your help is very appreciated. Is there a step I'm missing? After I bookmark am I needing to do something else? Is there a step I'm missing?

As I mentioned when I search www-dot-theirdomain-dot-com it brings up links from the places they have registered links at. The same places that I've registered links at don't come up when I type www-dot-mydomain-dot-com into google.

What am I doing wrong? I'm really interested in learning so your help is very appreciated. Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance.

let me see is i understand correctly...

your saying that the sites you submit to to get backlinks are not indexed by google, thus not showing up on the search engines?

if thats the problem you can always ping (with alot of caution) all of those urls you submitted to. i use a free service called pingfarm were you can get here: PingFarm | FREE Mass Ping Site To Ping Your URLs For More Backlinks

if anything PM me and ill take a look into your situation a little deeper at no cost

If you are brand new, you might check out The Challenge, a free Internet Marketing course that will cover all of your questions:

    The Challenge

That said, it sounds like your problem might be that the keyword(s) you are trying to rank for are way too competitive for your level of IM knowledge right now. A research tool such as Market Samurai would be most useful in finding out how competitive your keyword(s) are. But it will take some time to learn enough to use the tool.

Again, I think you will find The Challenge VERY helpful in your efforts!

Hey DiegoOrtiz! I guess I can't PM on here yet. I'm still learning this site as well. :>)

Hey there I guess the word is indexed by google yes that's what it is. The website I'm following has registered to several sites, forums and bookmarking sites. When I search www-dot-theirsite-dot-com it brings up the indexed sites but mine don't come up. I did do pingler but I wasn't sure if that works? Your help is appreciated. I will go try that pinging tool next.

On more question: You mentioned caution with Ping Farm why would I need to be cautious about this?

Woah there you don't want to ping more than once. Once you ping a site it takes time for the search engines to index it. Over-excessive pinging can cause you to get flagged or something of that nature, basically it's like spamming the search engines to come look at your website. Also, you shouldn't focus too much on social bookmarking links, they will help a little bit but not enough so that you spend all your time doing that. Alot of them also end up being nofollow so you won't get any ranking juice from the links. Just a heads up
