Help me out with my plan

Hello everybody,

I need some help

Over the past few years I've been promoting various info products, yet I didn't create anything of my own.

I kinda wanted to create my own product for some time now and this week I've decided that ill finally do it!

Anyway I've been doing a lot of research and I've found some great micro niches. I already decided to go after some specific "how to" keywords which get anywhere from 1800 to 3200 exact searches per month.

My goal is to create a simple how to product that will solve that particular problem, yet I am not sure what would be the best way to attack this particular market.

There's already a lady ranking for the keywords that I want to rank for and she has a blog with articles and at the end of those articles she's sending her visitors to her sales page.

Now I am thinking what should I do:

a) Buy an exact name domain. Create a simple 3~4 page website (similar to sniper websites that sell amazon products). Write an article/sales page which at the beginning will offer some info and at the end of the article I'll pitch the product.

In this case I would only need to build the website once and I should only focus on link building/tweaking copy.

The problem is that I am not sure whether Google likes that kinda stuff, yet it seems that there are no problems with sniper sites that sell physical products.

b) Buy an exact name domain. Create a blog with lots of content and basically do what the lady does only with better offer/marketing.

Niche marketers, any suggestions?

Thank you

P.S. I was wondering are there any sales pages that are ranking in Google?

I'm currently working on a niche site myself so good luck to the both of us.

That said, have you thoroughly researched the keyword? Use Traffic Travis (Free SEO Software | The Best PPC & SEO Management Tool -Traffic Travis) to analyze the keyword and see how your competition is doing. It sounds like the lady who's ranking for the keyword had done a great deal of SEO on her site - sounds like she's an internet marketer herself. If that is indeed the case, it might be tough competing with her.

Go to Yahoo! Site Explorer (Site Explorer - Yahoo! Site Explorer) and explore her URL. See how many backlinks she has. If there's too many, you might want to go for some other keyword. Also have a look at the other sites on the first page of Google for that keyword.

A good keyword research is a project half done so far as niche sites are concerned. Well the SEO part is a big deal. But if you have a good keyword, SEO is comparatively easier.

      Thanks Jou,

Yeah, I've analyzed SEO competition and it's kinda weak. The main competitor whos selling the info product has around 100 backlinks and most of them come from articles. I've analyzed the articles and most of them a low quality spun ones that were blasted to hundreds of article directories. The other websites that are ranking have no more than 20 backlinks which will be ez to outrank.

It's kinda funny how you put your ideas from your brain onto paper (in this case this WF thread) and it becomes so much easier to think.

Now I've decided register exact match domain name, write uber simple sales letter for a how to product, then using CPALead or TrialPay create a "free" offer for people who want to get the product.

To get traffic quickly I'll make a youtube video and drive traffic to that offer to see how well everything converts.

Well sounds like you can outrank her in no time RD5. Getting traffic through YouTube is a good strategy, especially for 'how-to' keywords.

        Good luck!
