Question about FREE download link for a free ebook

If you create a download page with a download link for a free ebook, how do you avoid people finding out the download link (i.e. from previous subscribers) and just avoiding having to optin to my list and just going straight to the download ? If i had to use some sort of encryption software, does this change the download link everytime someone is sent to the download page ?

cheers,

Gary

You just have to trust your buyers. If they really want to share your product, they can upload it elsewhere and share it anyway. But they won't normally do that because they have spent their own money buying a product, why would they want to give it to others? Would you?

Anyway, if you still want to avoid that kind of problem, you could try using shopping platforms like E-Junkie (http://www.e-junkie.com), which I'm using. It sends a buyer-specific download link to the buyer's email which will expire after 5 download attempts. It's really cool.

    Cheers,

I've already provided my input in your thread from the
31st March - asking a very similar question:

      http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-my-ebook.html

It's 8th April today and you still have the same question.

Maybe, you're overcomplicating things and/or suffering
      from paralysis by analysis.

It may be that you're focusing on minor points instead
      of doing the majors.

Get a report up there, link it to an autoresponder series
      and start building your list.

Most practical Internet Marketers don't worry about the
tiny things like if someone is going to pass on a link to a
      free download page.

If you really don't want to risk people sharing your link,
then place the ebook in a non-web accessible location
on your site (above public_html). Then use a script such
as DLGuard to allow you to give out unique links for each
      subscriber that can't be shared.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

That’s an excellent reply. Spot on. Leave it and move ahead. Many expensive products are stolen and distributed on the net. You are bothering about a free product. Do not get yourself down due to such minor issues. If this is really bothering you, then go to GOOGLE and do a search for “secure digital download” or something similar and there are plenty of solutions around.

If people want to upload it to rapidsare or megaupload--whatever the site-- they are going to do it anyways whether you take the security measures or not.

I totally agree. Anyway, if it's a free ebook, then simply give your subscribers the download link and trust them not to pass it on. I wouldn't bother with DLGuard in this case.

Hi Gary, if it's going to be a free eBook I wouldn't worry to much about it...If it was a paid version, then you may want to try and protect it.

Saying that though, even top Internet marketers will tell you they never worry about them kind of set backs, if someone really wants to gain access to your stuff, they will.

DLGaurd gives you the option of sending out different links for each different subscriber if you wanted to look into that.

There is a very simple solution to your problem. Never redirect from your opt-in form directly to your download page. When a visitor becomes a subscriber by submitting the form on your squeeze page, send them to a product sales letter with a similar topic as the free ebook or report you are giving away.

If you are doing double opt-in the url for the sales letter will take the place of you confirm message. This way the new subscriber goes from the squeeze page directly to the sales letter.

When they go to their email client to get the free ebook or report, if double opt-in they will have to confirm. If single the email message will contain the link for the download page. It does not matter if single or double opt-in is used, the link to the download page is delivered in the first email message.

Now, you have built your list some more and if you make a sale, you getting paid to build your list.

Never, Never, Never just give your new subscriber a direct link to download the freebie in your email. Always deliver the freebie on a download page, The download page can allow you to do an upsell or seem like you over deliver by giving them and unadvertised bonus. Plus having a download page will give you an exellent appearance of professionalism.

You want to use all the vacant Internet empty property that you can for your benefit.

Don't worry about the freebie being handed around or given to other people because if you have done it right and added your links to the freebie, you want people to give the ebook away to as many people as they can.

In the ebook, you can encourage them to give it away. I would also add a 7-day ecourse in the ebook that they can sign up for. And guess what, its your ecourse, they will be signing up to your list. So get that ebook set up right and get people to pass it around.

Here is a link to an ebook called Opt-In Secrets...

    Opt-In Secrets

Download this ebook and see how the process is suppose to work. Then open the ebook and see how it is set up.

I giveaway a 7-day eCourse and in the rights I tell them they have the right to sell or give the ebook away.

Then at the end of the ebook I Propably list 10 different ways the subscriber can use the ebook for their benefit. In other words get that ebook into as many hands as I can because all the links in the ebook are my affiliate links and links that will get me more subscribers.

Heck, in the ebook I tell them how they can earn income by purchasing a license that will allow them the add their links to the ebook in place of mine. The eCourse is still there and will build my list even more. Add some product recommendations at the end of the ebook of course using your affiliate links.

You can even give chapter sponsor ads to other marketers and have them help you distribute the ebook with their ads in it. after all they will be sending you subscribers so they can promote their product listed in the ebook.

You have to losen up and think outside the box.

So go ahead and check it out.

    I hope this helps,
    Steve Yakim
