Hi, I want to set up a new forum, on the cheap. Is there any free software that will help me to get a forum set up?

If you go into your site's cPanel, look for "Fantastico" or "Fantastico De Luxe" in the "Software / Services" section, then click on the link.

You'll see various categories of software on the left side; look for the "Discussion Boards" section. That's where you'll see the choices available to you.

PHPBB is one that lots of people are familiar with and it's not too terribly hard to learn, in my opinion. Please ensure that you sign up for their updates list (you can do that at phpBB • Download phpBB3), and when they announce an update to the software, return to that page and update the software if you can't do it via Fantastico.
