Politicalnobody suggestions for website plz

Hello Everyone,
I've got a domain (politicalnobody.com) that I've never done anything with. I tried to do some political blogging but got overwhelmed with work and lost focus. This particular domain is a few years old and I'd like to do something with it.

I was thinking of a news or political site. I know there's probably a lot of those types of sites on the net so I'm asking for suggestions on how to make it unique. I'm doing some kw research looking for a niche to get into, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In regards to a news or political site. Is there a way to selectively populate my site with content from other sites? What I mean by selectively is that I get choose what is published on my site and not just automatically pull random content from other sources. I know very little about autoblogging, I'm not even sure if that's the appropriate method for what I want to do.

I'd also like to know if what I'm describing is illegal or frowned upon by G. I've seen some threads that suggest that pulling news content isn't to big of a deal. If anyone has any experience with this plz advise.

I'll be using wordpress so any suggestions on plugins would be helpful as well.

Thanks.

TJ

It is not illegal, provided you use material from sites that allow the syndication... Most political news sites use syndicated news (e.g. from news agencies) - but you never know what the big G. may or may not like.

As for pulling news from other sites - while technically it is a viable method, do I really want, as a visitor, to go to your blog to see the same news that I already read on the big news sites, in my newspaper, saw on TV, heard on the radio while driving...?
Honestly, I think autoblogging can work for other niches but not for a political blog.

If you have your own opinion/comment regarding certain news items... and you can write well - then I may be your potential reader.

For such a domain name I could envision a blog along the news - from the perspective of the "average Joe" a.k.a. the political nobody: he pays the price of all the political games that the 'pro' politicians are playing

However, even if you can find your own specific perspective and you are able to write it well, in a captivate manner... it is still not a guarantee your blog will become popular. Although it could.

Thanks and I agree original content would be much better. I think I'd use the syndicated stuff more as filler. I was thinking more along the lines of syndicating stories that weren't necessarily mainstream.

I also agree with the idea of the everyman angle which is what I originally thought of when I registered that domain name.

In regards to autoblogging do you have any recommendations in regards to wordpress plugins? or themes? I'm looking at using one of the woothemes maybe a magazine or news style layout. I'd also be interested in any resources in regards to autoblogging.

    Thanks.

You can also get some free news crawler scripts that can pull news from just about any news topic you want 27/7 keeping your site update without much intervertion from you unless you want to be active on a daily basis.

Sourceforge is a good place to search for some.

I would really try to avoid resorting to "filler." I think you'd be better off filling the site with valuable and interesting content that a small amount of people LOVE, rather than a bunch who think it's just ok.
