[Newbie] Domain and google keywords

Hello all, thanks for viewing my thread...

Simply I'm new to anything that has to do with making money online and I recently viewed a "ebook" on Turnkey websites and flipping them for cash. (Before I go further can anyone tell me if this is a legit way to make money)

I'm only 15 years old (16 in 8 days) and I just transfered $30 from my bank account to my paypal to try and get started with creating a domain with a good niche and making a website with templates from wordpress.

Anyways... I had a few questions on domains and google keywords tool.
  • For example this domain is taken "getrichfast.com" Its a pretty good domain, and has a lot of searches a day/month. Lets say I wanted it but couldnt since its taken, what if I did "get-richfast.com" or "get-rich-fast.com" would that impact searches per day/month from the original domain "getrichfast.com" or would "get-rich-fast.com" be the same and also come up on google pages as well at the original domain?
  • Also, I was on google keywords and I put in the word/phrase " xxxx xxx xxxx" (censored) and it had 1,000,000 global monthly searches, but when I put in the phrase for the "website" box I put the exact phrase (without the spaces obviously) .com and it said 0 searches? So, I'm confused what I did wrong!
I might be sounding dumb, I'm not sure I'm new to all of this...please help me out the best you can thanks!

It seems like the hyphen or no hyphen on domains seems to be controversial. Some gurus say that hyphens make no difference in ranking a website at the top of Google while others say that putting hyphens will put you at a disadvantage than if you don't use them. Maybe you should consider putting a suffix after the keyword phrase if the exact match domains are already taken. Something like "keyword phrase" + blog, online, site etc.

I don't know if I understand your second question, but you made it sound like you put the keyword phrase into the website box in the Google Keyword Tool. You have to put a url into that field in order to get any results. I don't know if that is what you did, but please clarify what you meant.

thanks tons for your reply! I will try to resreach the hyphen more and use your suffix suggestion.

In the phrase box I put the the words and it said 1,000,000 searches monthly, then i put the phrase in the website box (without the spaces) and the results said 0 views monthly...im confused

Maybe that website: xxxxxxxxx.com is sandboxed from google, meaning that they did something wrong in the eyes of google and they removed it from their search engine, another possibility is that it just hasn't ranked..
        Hope this helps

I wouldn't be to worried about using hyphens, one of my sites have hyphens xxxxx-xxx-xxxx.com and it ranks fine.don't always believe what you hear about hyphens not working as well as non hyphen names.

Your welcome, also I would only use hyphens like so word-word-word.com not word-wordword.com,you can use either one but the first one looks more normal to me than the second.
