How to make money off...

I think I found a nice niche, but it's not a marketable one. Should I just use Ad sense? It's gonna be a community and forum website, mostly based off the product.

If you can get a lot of traffic then sell advertising.

Sell advertising such as... banners for people that sells merchandise spinoff off the game? I guess there's quite a few.

If its a nice niche, then surely its marketable other wise its not a niche!

Is it in high demand with little competition? Then its a niche and that would mean its very marketable.

There's 450 000 monthly search and the competition bar is all white in google ads words tool. It's however not an ebook or physical product.

If there might be other marketers in the community, allow them to pay X amount of dollars to promote offers in a certain section of the forum.
Also, provide affiliate links or affiliate banner ads. Google adsense is ok, but Google tends to de-rank websites that have a lot of adsense code on them. So I would use sparingly.
Also, give every new member a 'free downloadable report' which includes links to affiliate products.
Every month email members of the forum with opportunities to get high priced coaching from you. Also, one monthly email should be a discount (40% off a dog grooming widget).
      That's what I would do.

My website has absolutely and without a doubt nothing to do with internet marketing. It's not even something that I could write a "report" on, I can think of something but it's nothing someone would buy. I can't coach anyone neither. I like the ideas, might be handy for another "niche", but for this it's more relied on constant news as this is still growing and more content is always being added. It's more of a community thing.

Maybe it just takes a different perspective.

I don't expect you to hand the niche information over, but I would like to offer some ideas. But not knowing anything about what the niche is, I'm not sure how much I can offer.

But take a step back. Look at this niche, not for what it is, per se, but what it contains, what it's comprised of.

        What ties this 'community' together?

I can't think of a niche offhand that doesn't present some at least semi-obvious marketing options. But let's just start with something simple (and obvious) and look at what taking that step back can mean.

We will assume that this is about the ever popular example of 'dog obedience training' (because I've never found this to be a niche I was interested in, but there are obvious marketing elements to it)

On top of the obvious things like ebooks or physical books and reports about how to train the dog. There are many things that most of the people in this niche would be interested in, which we know from their being in this niche at all.

If they are interested in obedience training for a dog, you can tell they have or plan to get a dog.

For those who don't have a dog, you might want to look into things like selling advertising to sites such as Puppies for Sale, Dogs for Sale and Dog Breeders You won't get rich off of these ads, but the presence of an ad for finding ones next puppy is unlikely to bother ANY of your niche members. They obviously have or want, and like dogs.

In addition, there are related items such as physical products for dogs (pet toys, pet meds), I'm sure there are products about how to take care of one's dog.

You could further start breaking them down by size or breed of dog. Someone with a Great Pyrenees as different needs than someone with a Chihuahua. Specialized reports on these breeds could be a small plethora of products.

Grooming products come to mind as well.

What I'm trying to get at, is don't look at the niche as ONLY one niche, ONLY one market, or ONLY one trait. There are things that tie a community together, and anything that may appeal to a large portion of that community, or that will appeal to some, but be perfectly acceptable to the reset, are all places to look for marketing ideas and options.

I can't speak for anyone else on this, but I personally like to have a functional site, with good information and a teaser for the upcoming release, before I start investing in advertising. But this really depends on the site.

I know of a site that went over very big for a little while, which ran massive advertising for a month before opening day. It did fairly well, anyone who went to the site in advance just found when the site would open.

But that kind of marketing can backfire if you're to vague in your lead in advertising.

I don't know for sure about the site that I was referring to, but I think they didn't have a good revenue plan. So they spent a lot on advertising and a great system, only to have it fizzle because while they were very popular, getting lots of visitors and lots of utilization, they didn't have the income to overcome their expenses. But since I wasn't on the inside of that site, my perception could be in error.

PM me if you'd like to discuss more on your specifics.
