AllinoneSEO plugin - No description showing

Im using the AllinoneSEO plugin. The plugin is enabled and the site description is filled in but when i goto Google and type site:domainname.com it just displays the site's URL in the search results but it doesn't show the description.

What could be the cause of this? Also in Google it shows the URL as www.domainname.com even though in WordPress the URL is set to be shown without the www. in the URL.

Could this have something to do with the description not being displayed?

it just displays the site's URL in the search results but it doesn't show the description.
First of all check if the description is displayed in your site's source code. To do this open your site in your browser, right click and chose 'view source code' (or something like that).

Then a window with source code opens. Check the head section for the description.
Also in Google it shows the URL as www.domainname.com even though in WordPress the URL is set to be shown without the www. in the URL.
The best way to fix this is to open a Google Webmaster account. There you can tell Google through specific settings to always display the non-www version.

I checked the source code. It's not displayed in the head section but it is displayed on line 66 under
      <meta name="description" content="

Is that the correct place the description should be?

Hard to say without knowing your full page's source code.

But if the description actually is on the page as you like it to be that's at least a sign that the SEO plugin is working properly.

The description not showing up - this could be due to your site being cached prior to adding the description in the fields.

You can check the date your site was cached last time by doing a Google search for your URL, the cache date will be shown right next to the search result.

If that is the problem, getting your site re-cached can help. Add fresh content to it, ping it, have it social bookmarked and wait for some time until you see Google has the latest copy.

Do you mean do a search like site:domainname.com

I did this but it only displays the URL in the search results, it doesn't display a cache date.

The cached date still isn't showing but now i know that is likely the issue, i don't really need to know the date the site was cached.

The problem im having now is, ive added the site to Google Webmaster tools. When i goto Settings to change the prefered domain it says please verify your site.

Ive linked it to the Google Analytics profile to verify. The verification details say that im currently a verified owner yet it won't let me change the prefered domain settings. What could be wrong?
