Articles + submission to directories - Which approach to take?

hello

I am planning on writing several articles (targeting specific keywords) to put on my website.

After they are indexed on Google. I am planning on submitting them to a directory such as Ezinearticles.

Is it recommended to put them on my website FIRST... after they are indexed - upload them on Ezine.

Won't they be duplicates, and hence get deleted?

Which is a good approach to take with this method.
Any recommended guides/readings?

Always, always, always put them on your own website first; wait for them to get indexed, THEN, and only then, publish them on EzineArticles. This does not represent duplicate content (just forget that totally false impression.) It's the right way to publish your content, nothing more, nothing less.

Also, see this WF thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...eza-first.html

Put them on your site first then the directories...

You won't have to worry about duplicate content, thats what the directories are for... The key is to make sure all instances of the article have the same name on it and your fine.

    Good Luck

Does anyone know if ezine let approves the articles that are already indexed. I used to post them first on ezine then on my site and after spinning I send them to other high PR directories. I would change the practice if I get to know that ezine approves the articles already indexed by Google.

        Wrong order
        • First your own website/blog - wait till it's indexed
        • Second Ezine articles
        • Third everywhere else

    Thanks guy!

I read somewhere on here that articles' content should be changed by 20% otherwise will be deleted by ezine.

Again, that is complete mis-information. The only place that demands completely unique content is Buzzle. All the other directories are fine.

Ezine articles will accept your articles that have already been indexed on your own site. EZA only want original articles from you, but this does not mean that they need unique content. The two terms are very different.

You should however use the same pen name, when submitting to other sites, as proof that it is your original work.

I for one recommend publishing your articles on your site first, have them indexed, then submit your articles to online and even offline places which accept content contributions from authors/content developers. Google announced that their Farmer update aims to give more credit to sources of unique content, over online places which publish more content from author/content developer contributors than their own unique, high quality content...

They won't be duplicates. Rather: They'd be legally, ethically syndicated copies of your articles. As long as you have full exclusive rights to the content, i.e. articles, ebooks, presentations and videos: You can syndicate/submit the content for publication on online or even offline places which accept content contributions from authors/content developers...

I recommend submitting your content to offline and online places accepting content contributions from authors/content developers, especially in contextually relevant places where other webmasters and content publishers regularly go to get useful content which they can publish on their own sites and networks for their target audience. This will widen your market reach because their target audience most likely consists of people with needs and problems similar to the needs and problems of your target viewers. Those webmasters and content publishers publish your content on their sites and networks for their target audience, so it's reasonable to think your content provides their target audience with some sort of utility or set of benefits...

I just write small articles on one of my niche sites. perfect for ezine, so I just copy and paste them, put a link and then done!

Yes indeed - and you're in exactly the right place to read them.

In this mega-helpful thread, a whole group of experienced, successful pro-article marketers explain in detail, with great unity and clarity, their reasons for doing exactly what you're planning to do (and the incidental chat in the thread will also answer 30 other article marketing questions which you'll have at some point, even if not right now).

And this much shorter thread, another really good one, explains fairly clearly the important and significant aspects of the differences between "duplicate content" and "syndicated content" and even includes as a bonus the brief appearance of some dissenting views on the subject, which are then efficiently dealt with and explained by others with a clearer understanding of the subject.

Edited to add: oops, sorry, have just noticed that Annie, above, had (characteristically helpfully!) already drawn your attention to one of these.

I have been involved in article marketing for less than a year so I am still a relative newbie.

When I first started, I was told by others to write and submit articles to the top article directories.

Now all of that has changed since the Google Algorithm and I am being told that I must submit a new version of each article to each article directory.

My sites have totally unique content on them as that is what I personally chose to do and my blog posts tend to be far more detail orientated than my articles.

My head has been spinning with all of the ever changing advice so I was glad to read this thread and the subsequent threads that were referenced throughout.

It did not make logical sense to me to write a totally unique article for every article directory submission, given that blogs and other sites are picking up my articles for syndication and leaving them as is.

When I check my keywords in the search engines, yes I will see a version of my article - in some cases on the first page which I am happy about. Plus I am finding that certain articles generate good traffic to my site directly from within an article directory itself. Some article directories are doing better than others at this.

So logic would seem to dictate that I am covering all of my bases by maximizing the exposure of my articles.

I now have people telling me that I should not be doing this and I will pay the price and will never succeed. So it was good to read the advice of more experienced Article Marketers and I am very thankful that you all provided such detailed explanations of how it all works.
