Books for basic AND advanced SEO?

Somebody with no SEO knowledge what book would you give them to read and what would you give them once they know the basics?

    I'd actually give the same book to both those people, and it's this onethis one . It's better and more helpful and quite a bit more detailed than you might expect.

    (I'd also recommend it - and occasionally do - to quite a few people who post here with "SEO" in either their username or their sig-file, but that's another matter).

    Charles Kirkland just released a good SEO product this morning

    Covers all the techniques that survived the new farmer/panda algo.

    Not entirely as advanced as I hoped, but a few great nuggets.
