I know I'm asking for it...$100 - where?

OK, I'm a newb. The 30 Day Challenge forums helped me get a grip on the whole internet marketing thing, and I've made a little money -- not nearly enough -- but I can invest a little of it into learning a higher-end process.

I have $100. Who has the best product for a writer with lots of time, little to invest, and zero marketing savvy? I saw that the forums recommend "Desperate Buyers Only", which looks like a good option. Anyone have any examples of products they have personally purchased that brought them success -- as in enough success to pay off at least $2000/month within 3 months of startup?

    My first cheque from ClickBank was back in March this year and totaled $39.63. I never cashed it as
    a) It would have cost me almost the whole $39.63 in bank charges here in Cyprus
    and
    b) I framed it and hung it on the wall in my home office

    I now get cheques worth cashing (my ClickBank threshold is set to $2500) from the affiliate programs I belong to and I belong to a lot of programs.

    There seems to be an obsession with buying "How To" guides in our industry. I've always preferred to buy tools to get a specific job done, rather than a book on how to do it.

    For $100 and taking it as a starting point - I would suggest a good keyword research tool. Since I changed my focus on keyword research my income has multiplied exponentially.

    I tend to market in highly competitive niches (weight loss, health related). Competitive but that is reflected in the size of the commissions. Proper keyword research is essential otherwise I get shagged by the competition.

    Get yourself a good quality keyword research tool and find yourself some high traffic - low competition keywords.

    You say you're a writer, so article marketing might be one way to go. A great article though is worth little if nobody ever reads the bugger.

    Keyword research + article = sales

    My advice is that you take the $100 and register a few
    relevant domain names, arrange for hosting and begin
    developing websites and products (or find products)
    that you can promote. Research the marketing forums
    as they contain tons of free information on how to set
    up your online business(es). Many of these methods are
    completely free, permitting you to stay mean and lean
    until you become profitable.

    Personally, I have found a lot more success from what I have learned for free than from what I have paid for.

    That's not to say that there is not benefit in buying information down the track (it can save you a lot of time) but you don't need to spend money to make money in the first place.
