G'day everyone,

I'll get straight to it; I've been contemplating making some musical loops, SFX and such to sell as a WSO.

Now, what I need to know is:
1. Would you use sound effects/music in your marketing videos, websites, podcasts and so on?

2. What styles of music are most appealing to you (for use in your productions)?

3. Would it be worth my time and effort to sell these files here on the WF? (Basically, would you or anyone you know be interested in this sort of product?)

Also, I'd be willing to sell all sorts of rights to the package/s and they would, ofcourse, be royalty free .

Looking forward to your feedback!

-Aidan.

P.S: I'm not looking to make millions from this so t ospeak, it's just a hobby that I would like to extend into a minor income earner.

Hmm personally I would not be interested because I am pretty music and effects savvy.
I get royalty free music all the time to use in productions.

    BUT
If you package is going to be extensive and high quality I could see the potential.
I think you would be best of marketing to people new in the product creating scene.
Because long time product creators know exactly where to get royalty free music and effects.

I've thought about that, that's why I would sell for no more than $7. And would be providing a fair few Loops/songs and at least 100 SFX (love making them ).

Do you think these sorts of products would work well as a PLR package? I'm thinking no, but not 100%.

      Cheers for your reply,

      -Aidan.

Well, actually, that is not even a bad idea.
Your prospects could even increase their own revenue by uploading the PLR package to some paid site. I don't know if there are many site were a user can upload and sell his 'own' SFX and loops but PLR is definitely an idea.

It's certainly an interesting idea and one I think should work well. I have tried in the past to make products for specific markets and posting them in specific places but it hasn't worked that well so I'd be interested to see if you can do this well

People will always buy things like these if they are priced right. If I see a WSO offer for some music samples and they are half decent I will almost always pick them up. You can't have too many things like that especially when you are creating a lot of videos like I am.

I actually purchased one just yesterday or the day before. There are already a few WSO's offering music samples but if you provide quality at a great price there is no reason why you can't also do it - especially if you love making them!

I'm not so sure I would limit my marketing to WSO only. There are lots of companies making good money marketing SFX and Loop libraries from their own websites.

For example, BetaMonkey markets drum loop libraries from their website. I'm a musician and am always looking for good drum loops to work with, I've probably spent over $300 on BetaMonkey loops this year alone.

Also, inexpensively SFX libraries also sell well on eBay. A $7 price point seems more than worthwhile in that marketplace where everyone is looking for a deal. Also, using eBay, you can build a list of buyers to be used late on down the line.

There are a lot of possibilities if you're generating quality material.

You have a good idea. For me, sound FX in videos make the advertisement more interesting and catchy. Being a marketing graduate, when we make marketing videos or website it should be appealing.

So probably I will purchase if I will need it.

Have you thought about connecting with a company that licenses this type of stuff to resell/license to others? Might be more profitable for you as they will already have an audience who wants this kind of thing.

Sorry guys, this is a really late reply - but I appreciate all your thoughts.

I've been working on some stuff, and will probably just sell a pack for $4. Seems like a sweet deal. I'm not looking to get rich off of it, just to get recognised for some of my abilities. Maybe build up a portfolio of testimonials for myself.

    Cheers guys and gals.
