Look Out Aweber, Here Comes Twitter!

Ever think about using Twitter as a micro-autoresponder? It's possible and does an outstanding job of serving as an additional way to promote your expertise!

I'm experimenting with Twitter as a micro-autoresponder as a means of publishing my internet marketing tips on a daily basis to my Twitter followers. You can see how I'm using Tweetlater to schedule these tips each day and see all of the tweets at feeds.tweetlater.com/17/icemanbaldy/

It's all about being creative and putting technology to new and different uses in order to get back to the fundamental purpose of creating additional web traffic and awareness about your products and services. It's also key to not just promote or let your scheduled business tweets be the only thing that keeps your twitter account active--spice up your account with some personal interest to let followers know that you have a life too.

This would be good if your Twitter followers didn't end up resenting it. After all, Twitter is not quite the same as "confirming" being on someone's email list. I prefer to do it the old fashioned way and get people's permission to send them information.

Well said, these tweets may work best when used in moderation and for the purpose for which they're build. Start abusing the system and It will surely backfire. Remember the Buzz (a few months ago) about the "Myspace money method" where you add friends in bulk to market your services and friends. Well guess what, Myspace is really cracking on those accounts these days and as they become more aware of such practices, the marketers following these methods will surely be cornered.

    Just my Two cents!

The problem is, the Tweet stream goes by fast. Only your followers who are on at the time you publish will see it, unless they follow very few people.

You could go the @TwitterUsername to make sure those who keep track se it, but then you'll be Tweeting for hours to hit all on your list. Only takes a few minutes in Aweber.

I read the title and was hoping I'd open the thread to see that Twitter was coming out with a new product! Oh well, I'll stick with AWeber for now.

there are unique ways to use twitter for marketing but I don't ever see it replacing email

But how effective all these unsolicited marketing materials are? People become blind to these things. I have stopped subscribing to any facebook group related to IM. Of course you may argue that email spammers still make money because a small percentage of people will still respond.

If it is not doing the same job as Aweber, then I will stick with Aweber. I still want to get people's permission to send them information. Unwant emails will always be treated as junk mails that people will not bother to read.

    Cheers !

  • A few things on this...

    1. If folks aren't used to reading what you write, then
it won't help. The only way to do this is to ensure that
a vast majority of your tweets are fun and interesting
things...not related to any kind of offer. Then, when
you want to promote something...people are more
apt to check out what it is.

    2. When you do have an offer to send for...you may
want to do it a few times. This way you have a better
chance of getting it read. just say something like 'in
case u missed this earlier'...or something like that.

    3. You can also try to drive your twitter traffic to
some form of optin page for whatever it is you are
trying to promote. This way...you get your 'hand
raisers' on a list that you can then market to.

    4. You may want to signup for a second affiliate
account on whatever you are promoting (If it
isn't your own stuff). Then use that account
for your tweets. this way...you can see how
effective your tweets are on any given promotion.

On that last one...if there are any affiliate contests,
you can ask their affiliate manager to consider
both accounts yours...and add up your leads/sales,
so you can still get any prizes related to your
combined traffic. Most affiliate managers will
do this for you, if you ask.

There is 0 chance twitter will replace autoresponders,
but you can definitely use it to add to anything
you are promoting/doing...if it is used properly.

If it isn't...you are just wasting time.

My two cents on this one
