Should I promote someone else's ebook first?

Hi Everyone,

Should I promote someone else's Clickbank product while I am writing one of my own?

It is a very narrow niche and would basically be a How-To guide.

There is only 1 or 2 reasons why people would visit my site:

To read info (small pieces of the larger solution that I would purposely limit to sell something, of course) or to buy an ebook with all the info they would need to fulfill their needs.

So, while I'm in the process of writing this ebook, I figure it will probably take 2-3 weeks, should I promote a different, but will probably be similar to mine, ebook?

I have not purchased this vendor's ebook, mostly because I don't want it to appear that I just re-wrote it, but in my own style.

There's not too many different ways to get rid of the problem that people are looking for a solution for.

It's a classic case of gathering all the info that is offered online for free, if you did all the searching, and compiling it into 1 product.

As for list building, I have no ideas on what to offer people since it is so narrow of a niche.

My main keywords get about 175 exact searches a day along with few hundred more among 3 other sets of keywords. There is very weak competition, that is, if I did my homework correctly.

Sorry, if I'm not being more specific but I have that, being new and guarding my project mentality right now. Hehehe

Also, After 1 day of going live with a very weak website, Google analytics is telling me I received 9 direct traffic visits from 4 unique visitors and it's an exact match .biz domain.
How does that happen?

Thanks, Joe

I think that you should be patient. While it is good to get affiliate commissions, it would be best to sort of hype up the release of your ebook. Have people sign up to be notified when it releases. Then you will get a nice stream of sales.

Wow, I knew I would get some good replies, and that was fast Mike.

Thanks, I'm going to use that!

Start a blog and try to share pieces of advice from your eBook. From time to time, after you get at least 200 visitors/day, write the fact that you plan to write an eBook. NOT that you are already writing one.

    And be patient...

Selling someone else's ebook can be like a stepping stone....
it will iron our a few things that are needed for your own ebook, when you have one...

If you dont already have an ebook, buy a quality ebook, review it and then promote it...
its like getting a full dress rehersal for free and you might even make money from a few sales.

On the other hand... if your site is not getting "buyer" type browsers, then you dont what to spend all that exhaustive hours writing a book and have no cha-chaings in your cash register....

make sure your visitors have the will and the ability to open their wallets and buy good quality product from you site....

I'm thinking this is a one and done niche book so I want it to be my own.

I guess I can continue to find and write about more problems that may be close but not relevant to this niche.

I'm just more worried at this point on what to do with the visitor's until then, but an earlier reply from Mike got me a whole lot closer to how to handle that.

      Thanks

I would set up a site and capture email addresses with an autoresponder. Drip feed some content to them every couple days then when your book is ready, sell it to them. Look for a video from Frank Kern on building trust and desire. It should help you with this process.
