I have seen thread of where someone who registered a domain name
e-how.org and asked how much he should sell it, was encouraged to go ahead to sell it for a sum of money.

Why this is not the subject of this thread, my focus is to actually address issue inluding
cybersquatting, domain registration scams and pure domain registration issue.

A lot of newbies and even experts would go ahead to register domain name, without carrying out due diligence and end up registering domain names that belongs to a brand
or trademark and so commit cybersqyatting.

As an experienced domainer, anyone could be in this position in the first few years of
practicing domaining as a business.

Another aspect of domain is domain scam. While some have been able to make away fast with domain tasting by registering a domain and using it to make money within days and deleting it for a refund, this is a practice that is not professional in all ramification.
In the same vein, the internet is full of domain renewal scam where you could receive a mail from a company asking you to click a link to update or renew your domain. You do not need to click this at all as you could relinquish the ownership of such domain. Never click on a link in your email, instead, type the site on your browser.
There is also domain appraisal scam: Here , a prospective buyer of your domain will ask that you click on a link and in most cases he will send you to afternic through his affiliate link and you pay for appraisal and he will leave you without buying the domain. He makes money from affiliate payment from appraisal.
1. Before you register a domain: Find out if your domain is associated with any trademark or brand as this could have you in a court case. You cannot register a domain that belongs to a brand.
2. Get You Who is correctly with your email, phone and address
3. Do not click on links inside your email
4. If you have to carry out appraisal, do that on your own and not through the link of your buyer
5. Do not sell domain directly, but use brokers
6. Use escrow account of your broker
