I need help with Word Press

I would appreciate if anyone could help me.

I published a post a few weeks ago with a long URL. I subsequently started promoting that article on the URL.

I just signed in to my webmaster account and saw that the I have a 404 error on this link. I went to my website, although the post title is showing on the sidebar, the links goes to a 404 page.
I tried everything I could ...no luck. So I decided to change the URL to a shorter link and it worked.

I have been trying to redirect my new URL to my old URL to get rid of the 404. I tried this through my Cpanel, I'm still getting the 404 message.

I tried using Redirect Plugin... but it doesn't seem to work or I don't know how to use it.

Help please.

    Hmmm... obviously the url has changed, then. Did you change your permalink structure, by any chance?

    You might try re-creating the post, then edit the original post by using the 'redirect' page template and putting in the new url as the text on the original post.

    Then when someone puts in the old url, it gets automatically redirected to the new post.

    Also if you do change the permalink structure make sure to add / at the end of it or it won't work and will give you an error. I know that, because I did that
