Websites For Services Rather Than Goods

I am helping out a friend that runs a courier service. My background is with goods websites rather than service websites. I am trying to get some more information on what people are using to develop service websites where they are selling services online. In this case, I would be looking for something that would allow customers to place orders online and send the completed orders to drivers to fill. It also would be good to get something that could allow the customers to be able to track these orders. Where would you recommend I go to get more information on this stuff or what software would you recommend using? Any help you could give me would be really appreciated?
