Amazon Links - Are You Losing Sales?

Recently I have been dabbling a bit with Amazon and put up a few sites, targeting mainly the USA, but also the UK and Canada, and using the Amazon Link Localizer Wp plug-in, as one of the sites started getting a few sales from the US, I checked my UK account to find 626 hits but no sales, which seems a bit unlikely to me  so I sent an email to Amazon about this,

here is part of the reply...

Quote: "Having reviewed your website, it appears that the vast majority of the items you review link to their counterparts on Amazon.com, but not Amazon.co.uk - please bear in mind that Associate links are not enabled for geo-tagging, and will not automatically redirect a potential customer to the correct regional Amazon site. The best solution is to have multiple links for each item, one for your American visitors and the other for your British and European visitors."

Obviously I am aware of the geo tagging aspect, hence the plug-in.

But as this does not appear to be working my question is this, have I got to fart about adding three separate links for each item as suggested by Amazon, or does anyone know of a Localizer plug-in that works properly, free or paid, or some other better method by which Amazon links can properly direct visitors to their own Amazon locale.

I have done a little research on this this and noticed there were some posted replies by the owner of the Amazon Link Localizer plug-in here on the WF, but they are a couple of years old, and do not answer the question.

This is an area beyond my expertise, so any replies here from Amazon experts would be appreciated, how do you guys solve this problem?

  • I think it sends those UK visitors to the amazon UK local store main page or sub category, but not the actual product page. Usually because the product doesn't have the same ASIN code.

Hence those that get sent to the UK one end up being sent to a non product page and probably move on.

Even-so, with that many clicks it seems very unlikely or unlucky that you have not had a sale.

From which do you get more clicks, US or UK? Switch it to the UK and see if any sales come in. If they don't, maybe your UK visitors aren't targeted enough, or some other strange anomaly.
