Stopping spam comments in WP big problem for me

What plugins are available to stop WP from showing the html links of the spammers and just show name and comment?

    I found that Bad Behavior had stopped access to my WP site in the past 7 days. Is this legal? I realize that they supposedly stop spam but am not familiar with them and my sales on the site have decreased to 0.

        Wordpress usually gives you Askimet plugin to use, but I found another one that works really well called G.A.S.P. from the blog Grow Map. It's free.

    I've found that even if you remove the links, spammers will just put their text link in the body of the comment. It's sad but I've gotten to the point that Ijust turn comments off on most of my blogs.

    I find that Bad Behavior and Akismet together are very effective at stopping spam, particularly if you set up an account at HoneyPot and add the http:BLAccess key (which Bad Behavior supports).

      I have been testing plugins from comments etc and plugin Comments Cleaner seems to be the winner. Thanks for everyones feedback

    I usually use Akismet, which works pretty well at blocking most scrapebox comments. When add in a captcha plugin and you will wipe out about 99% of all spam comments.

    Honestly, if they ARE spam comments... why on the earth would you like to keep them in on your blog, even with disabled links???

    Do you think a huge number of spam comments would create the impression that your blog is an "active/interactive" place?

      I just require that all comments be approved so I have zero spam comments on my site. Of course, I have a total of zero comment all together on my sites because I don't get anything other than spam comments!
