ASA On The Lookout For Non Compliant Websites

Last year the ASA had over 3,500 complaints from the public about dodgy websites but didn't have the power to act. That of course has now changed and they are waiting eagerly to name and shame the first valid complaint they receive from the public relating to an unlawful website.

If we're truly honest we've all seen with interest clickbank sites for example promising £1000's while you sleep using a silver bullet software.

If you read the latest adjudication against Canonbury who've been around for years (simply google for the ASA website and see this week's adjudications)

it will give you a flavour of what falls foul.To be fair The Internet Income Detective is a tame mail advert compared to some of the Walt Disney claims made on websites particularly on clickbank which are nothing short of fraudulent in their paypal screenshots.

The fact that a person is an affiliate hiding behind say an affilialiate link at clickbank will not help them avoid adjudication/ judgement if the claim proves false. You won't be able to simply refer it to clickbank who I am sure will quickly take the heat off themselves by revealing who is the actual owner of the hoplink.

If the complaint is upheld then your reputation goes down the pan and that hurts especially if you're well known.

I know it's all part of the sector to hype up a little but when someone states unqualified you can earn 1000's a day,see my screenshot and yet somehow it doesn't work for you although promised to be able to be set up within minutes why should they get away with it.

Perhaps an honest rethink would be better for everyone concerned especially for the sakes the newbie and of course the elderly. The acid test is would you sell it to your granny?
