Hi Thomas, Well neither of those issues has afflicted me yet. I'll keep testing to see if I can disprove the theory. |

Like with everything in life, you get the good the bad and the ugly, But as warriors, you should eat the meat and spit out the bones or eat the fruit and spit out the stone Take the good! Brian |

In my other life, I am fearless. I'm the girl working the room, counting business cards in the coat room later. I write and talk for a living. I have lived in a major metropolitan area and I have a thick skin, BUT.. It took me a looong time to get up the guts to write my first few posts because this place looked big and scary. It seemed that everyone knew everyone except me. I watched the guy who joined on the same day zoom to 500 + posts in our first month. I didn't figure I could contribute with my puny knowledge, so I concentrated on reading, watching forum posts and researching for my own. Now, I just jump in. Every so often I see that someone forgets to do a self-edit before hitting the 'reply' button, but hey. I stay away from that thread. |

Hey ya'll. I have to somewhat agree with some of the posts above. I too was a little shy at first. Then I realized- nobody knows it all. Sometimes I will drop a subtle hint, sometimes leave a chunk, and sometimes I might even learn something from someone else's ideas- including newbies. I think everyone has something to offer.

Jeremy, Quote:
For some, it's because they have very different definitions of "attack." Any direct criticism or correction of an idea is perceived as a personal affront. For some, it's a matter of taste. They don't object so much to criticism as to the style in which it's delivered. For some, it's because they've seen people "attacked" and didn't understand how to be sure their own behavior wouldn't draw the same response. This is a very understandable confusion on the part of someone new to online discussions. The vast majority of the perceived "attacks" are nothing like serious. They're seen as brutal by people who are more interested in approval than truth, or whose backgrounds have led them to associate strong disagreement with the potential for more serious abusive behavior. There are some instances of people being outright attacked, as far as that word can be applied to strictly text-based discussions. Those are fairly uncommon. They're usually either senior people responding to something seriously wrong, or random idiots venting their ignorance. You can't do anything to avoid the latter, so it's pointless to hide from it. The former is something that won't affect you unless you're being malicious or otherwise destructive. Paul

OMG Waggers took a day off lol Seriously, Steve's hit it spot on the nail, There is a lot of fabulous knowledge to be had in this forum, and as far as I'm aware no-one begrudges sharing anything they know. BTW if you think the forum is intimidating now, you should have seen it when I joined up. (Paid membership then) Those were the golden years of the Warriors where people like John Reese etc posted on a regular basis. I was truly star struck lol Cheers Kim Quote:

This is THE best forum I've ever seen or heard of. The wealth of knowledge shared here on a daily basis is astounding and 99.9% of Warriors are helpful, friendly, and have the best of intentions. I remember when I first joined I could barely even follow most discussions...I didn't know what the heck anyone was talking about! But I don't remember ever being looked down on for being a newbie. There were always lots of helpful Warriors to help point me in the right direction. Let's hope that never changes. |

It only takes a couple of bad apples to create a bad vibe. You just have to learn to filter it out and see all of the good people here. Filter out the bad, pay attention to the good. Out with the bad, in with the good. Repeat with me now... |

This is one of the most civil of the forums I belong to. For the most part, we are one big happy family. Yes, sometimes we have to put a "Crazy Uncle Joe" up in the attic (for his own protection), but usually everyone is on their best behavior. Now, I have been (on a few rare occasions) known to get a bit "Surly" with some trolls and trouble makers, but for the most part, I'm a warm, cuddly teddy bear .When I first came to the WF, I registered under a nick name. Being known as someone who jumps right in, I saw a post where a guy was trying to sell phone service on a regular thread, and a Mod gave him "What for". His offer sucked! I had just bought a "Magic Jack" and posted a reply about what a great deal it was, especially compared to the other guys offer. Magic Jack doesn't have an affiliate plan, or anything, so I thought I was OK in telling the fellow Warriors of what a great way to save some money, and I thought I was providing a good bit of useful info. (I was just trying to be helpful) I got slapped! HARD! And was told to get my act in gear or that first post might be my last. So, I licked my wounds and started lurking and reading. I learned how the forum worked. What was acceptable and what wasn't. I came back and registered under my own name and started again. The rest is internet history .Seriously, this is just like school. You've got your "A" students, your struggling students, class clowns (with my hand waving wildly in the air) and the rest. We are all here to learn, and sometimes take the role of "teacher", too. For the newbie, read some posts to see if your question has already been answered. Check the "Search" option. If you don't find your answer, ask. We see some of the simplest questions asked all the time. Yet, when we were first starting out, those same questions were the "meat & potatoes" answers we needed to fill in the missing puzzle pieces. We won't bite your head off. (we may gnaw you around the ears a little ) But, we are all here to learn. The Warrior Forum is a Friendly Place! So, let's play nice and all make a boat-load of money! Most that I've come across on here are decent folk, but if I came across one of those nasty evil marketers I wouldn't do business with them. So the way that I figure it is that if they show themselves for what they are then they will lose credibility and business so they harm themselves more than others.

I truly love this forum. It's a small sample of our world population so people will disagree and have arguments. I'm pretty new here and sometimes I feel the heat, but I'm never intidated to ask one of my foolish questions or make a comment. It's a matter of one's self confidence. So what if I say something that someone doesn't like! That happens in real life too. Guys, just get over yourselves! I've learned so much here, I am truly grateful to all here! |

There are a few "Bulls" on the forum to keep 'em in line, but that's not a problem. The quality of a persons response to the "flame" is a excellent gauge of someones character, provides insight, and worth studying. |

Her come back was "dayumn these people have a lot of holier than though attitudes!" She doesn't participate on the Warrior Forum (I keep her too busy - lol) but I thought her reaction was interesting. That was from an outsider, looking in. On the plus side, I've made some wonderful contacts here. "Met" some terrific people. People PM their comments to me - perhaps they are too intimidated to post them. Don't know if any of you remember the guy who (a newbie) was looking for a shopping cart solution to get some product listed for Christmas? I let him add his stuff to one of my stores (so I'm going to do a shameless plug for his stuff right now - Check out his wraps from Nepal - Just beautiful!) Ok enough of that. Bottom line. You get all kinds here and by reading people's posts you get a feel for what type of person they are (guru or newbie). Some of the members are pretty entertaining too! As far as forums go. This one is the "kindest" I've found. I've been to plenty containing so called professionals (non IM niche) that just spit venom and are nasty as hell. I'll stay here thanks... By the way, Jeremy. I joined your WSO coaching sessions - well done. I like the material you presented. I've learned some new stuff!

I've only been at this forum a short while but so far, it's been all good. Everyone that I have dealt with (either in a thread or PM) has been very nice and respectful. I've been on message boards for about 10 years now and run a few myself, so I've seem my fair share of trolls, spammers and all around immature idiots. I have no problem putting them in their place and I don't back down when someone calls me out, either online or offline. It's the Brooklyn in me, I guess. lol |
