For all you Amazon specialists..

Hey everyone, i am planning on creating amazon review websites. The thing is, I'm having extreme difficulty finding keywords that i can compete in. Do you guys have any strategies to find good products to promote? I have purchased market samurai and i do use it, i just feel as if its impossible to find good keywords!

I know people use fillers such as "review" or "ABC vs XYZ", for all of you people making a decent income with amazon, are there any other type of "fillers" per se, that you use?

Feedback would be greatly appreciated as i have been stuck at the keyword research phase for a long time and would really like to start building amazon websites.

I find it easier to focus on product keywors versus bestlawnmowerrevew [dot] com or whatever. Often they're more available and IMHO they're easier to rank well for too.

When it comes to keyword research I've got Market Samurai but I'm not a huge fan of it to be honest and you can do a pretty good job by looking for [exact search volume]and evaluating the top 10 for your keyword in Google.

Keep an eye out for the keyword in the domain name, the keyword in the title and the backlinks for the page.

I think it was a dude called Rob Jones who summed up search tools like Market Samurai etc as 'tools'. They don't provide guaranteed figures... they simply give you a rough benchmark sites against each other.

When I pick products on Amazon I prefer to pick products with lots of positive reviews. BUT it's worth considering newer released products (ie. the up and coming products) that may not have many reviews just yet but you think they'll do well.

Plus you can tell if Amazon is working hard to push a product by looking at how much information they provide... the more info the better products can sell.

Just guidelines... they're are no rules ;-)

I personally have a 5 letter keyword that has virtually no competition and pulls in 240k hits per month globally and 22k in the UK alone.

It's just a product. All the domains are free but the .com's and even they lead to dead webspace.

I simply don't have the time at the minute as I'm working on much bigger scale things but.. Just look around you dude! Get a catalogue out and start looking for good selling products that people WANT!

Mistake number 1. Planning... as in... never.

Pick a topic you are interested in and build a business around it. Competition is irrelevant.

I think you're doing your research backwards. Look at Amazon first, go through products like toys, home and garden, and health and beauty and see which products pique your interest. As you're looking through the lists of products, inevitably other ideas for products will spring to mind. Once you have a list of potential products or product categories then check out what MS has to say. I'm betting you anything you'll find out a few products you're looking at will have low competition.

I would also advise against looking at fields too broadly. If you're looking at a category like "MP3 players" that's way too broad and very competitive. Look for micro niches and individual products. It's my experience that there are VERY few Amazon microniches that are over saturated or competitive.

I think you will love the product I'm about to launch.

We basically just gather all the keywords that shopping sites such as amazon.com are ranking for, check for domain availability, seo competition analysis and present all these data to you on a silver platter.

All you need to do is tell us how much money you want to make.

The only cons is it's not launching for another 1 1/2 month.
