I'm new to the game but willing to give it my all. Got $5,000+ to spend

27 replies
What's up fellow money makers and internet marketers?

I am truly new to the game, but I am not a slacker and I'm not lazy. I am currently about to graduate from college with a business degree, got a full time job with the government, started a clothing company called Parks and Recreation Clothing, and now I want to set up a site to get me as much money as possible. I work in the office all day and I am on the computer all night after I come home from the gym so I been wanting to set up a product in the fitness niche and I am currently in the process of getting an ebook and article together. Lets say I have $5k to spend today. What are my steps to getting a great product, setting up a great sales page, getting my list built up, and actually making some sales? What should my ebook and url name be if im focusing on a full body workout with great diet tips and supplements to get the best SEO based on keywords? (Just some general questions I been thinking about)

Hopefully I can get some good feed back to getting this ebook off the ground and start making some more money. Also I am hoping to impliment this to my clothing company to benefit both businesses. I have a great 9-5 job and Parks and Recreation Clothing, but I'm determined to make this work. I love working out and helping people so lets see if some of you can help me. Thanks

    Just off the top of my head...(not really answering your questions though)

    If you have experience and some success with it....you could create a product teaching people the basics of starting their own clothing company.

    I haven't researched if that is something people would want to learn how to do...but I guess it might be.

    Let me google that for you

    Like I said, just a quick idea...thought it might spark an idea for you...or maybe from someone else reading this thread....funny how things sometimes work that way.

    Hi,

    Welcome to the forum

    First and only spend for now would be a 37$ membership to the war room....Then put your money away and start reading the stuff in the WR

    Read the forum , ask questions,no...scrap that, search the forum then ask questions.

    Don't worry , the time to spend your money will come soon enough and when it does, may you do it knowledgeably and joyfully !

    Best of success.

    BEEEEE Careful!!

    You may get sucked down the rabbit hole never to be found again. There are tons of "deals" and "ways" to make money online, but there are even more ways to LOSE it!

    The really great thing for you is that you can pick something to do, and outsource your work. But you should first educate yourself so you know what to expect.

    Outsourcing is both a great thing and a pain in the neck. I have gone through quite a few people to find those gems. In fact, one of those great people just totally took a turn for the "flaky" and it was stressful as she was given assignment that required some time and flaked on me. I had to quickly assign it to one of my other writers.

    Anyway, it's a live and learn thing, but I would really caution you to try and learn what you can by reading in the forum and not going nuts on buying tons of How-To guides.

    Best Wishes,
    Chrisi

      Why spend 5K? Save it for something else. Set a side $200
      -Buy a war room membership ; next by a WSO (Warrior forum Special Offer.) With this you can get sales up to $10k , though most people only hit around $500-$5000. You're next step it to out source a sales page , to use on your WSO. Bam! You're ebook is of the Ground and you'll have allot of Confidence to go on.

      Or

      You could sell it for free , BUT include your affiliate Links in the ebook. Now a days selling it for free will probably be the best.Why?

      You'll earn reputation

      Reputation=$$$

      You'll earn Money with Amazon/Clickbank

      That=$$$

      You can then re write the ebook and sell it

      That again=$$$

      Have fun!

    The greater answer here, is that in IM, the only way to really leverage money is into scaling (Hiring off shore workers, designers, content creators etc - also buying websites). Until you understand what you are doing, you wont be in a position to scale anything because you wont know what to do to be successful.

    In my opinion, research some WSO's or education products. Find one in the $37-97 range and buy it. Study it, apply it and work the system till you are making money. Then test and hone that system.

    The most important step is to take action. I am still a beginner at IM, only been into it since last June when I was on unemployment for 2 months - I have about 10 websites that are all over the place - made for adsense, amazon affiliate marketing, review affiliate marketing for CJ.com, autoblog and so on. I have made about $200 - this is not very much, but it isn't terrible since I only do this stuff on the weekends after my dayjob workweek ends. If I had focused and taken the all mighty "massive action" I wouldn't be rich - but I am sure I would be making 4 figures instead of 3.

    IM is a long learning process so just jump in and get working. The rest will fall into place.

    Also, since you have a solid business education, remember to think of IM as something bigger than just clicks and websites. Check out this story: Warrior Room Freebie | Internet Marketing Strategies by E Brian Rose for some inspiration.

    That article was from a thread that was recently moved into the war room - all kinds of great content like that to be had there.

    Hello there,

    I also stareted as a total newbie, and am nearly finished university and looking in to achieving similar things to you by the looks. I have just created my first website and hopefully am well on the way to reaching all my goals...my new website, has all the resources I used to get my self going. There is a lot of good quality step -by-step information out there, quite often relatively cheap and even free, to get us started in the right direction.

    Wow...10 replies and nobody has said "buy my WSO!". I was expecting this thread to attract all the vultures from the subject line lol.

    For $5k...put it into a savings account at the bank for 3 months (maybe a GIC?). Spend that time reading forums, blogs, and guides online on how to make money online. Don't touch the money for 3-6 months (lock it into a GIC that you cannot cash out early).

    That way you won't waste your money on the first carrot that is waved in front of you. After 3-6 months of reading you should have a few ideas of how to get started and get an idea of what works and what doesn't.

      Seriously 5k can go a long way or it can be blown fairly quickly. Just keep coming back in here, and reading and testing things small scale with your money. When you run into a winner, then upscale and outsource it all. That is how we have created a massive business, that brings in thousands each month. :-)

    I'll assume you have an adequate grasp on how to do this thing called IM, and tell you what I've told someone else recently.

    Know your strengths, sure, but MOST importantly understand your weaknesses. You might be a genius at creating a product but absolutely suck at SEO. Alternately you might be a search engine wizard but can't write your way out of a wet paper bag. Or perhaps you have no problems with any area of this business of ours - yet you'd rather poke needles in your eyes before spending time writing PPC ads or copy for your offers.

    For me it's SEO. I know how to do it, can do it quite well in fact, but I absolutely hate the process. Root canal is more appealing to me.

    Point is this; take every task that you're required to do well in order to achieve your desired result, and figure out which one makes you want to jump off a bridge. That one thing which makes you walk away from your computer before you should - that will be your own personal kryptonite. With $5000.00 you have a nice jump start to outsource that work months in advance, to folks who know what they're doing, leaving you free to work on what you love at a higher level of productivity.

    Alternately - if you're brand new to the way this stuff works, I'd keep my money in the bank and do like Christian mentioned - study this forum and critically read and learn from anything else related to this industry. Be active in the forums, ask questions with reckless abandon, get savvy to the folks who know what they're on about and avoid the knuckleheads. Subscribe to blogs in the niche you hope to dominate, study EVERYTHING they do and figure out ways to do it better by asking folks who know what they're on about. Take free courses like The Challenge, e.t.c...

    A good number of us became very successful doing exactly these things.

    With IM there is a learning curve involved that business degrees can't teach, there's a testing phase, some trial and error, and yes, some investing involved in order to do it right. With $5000.00 to start you're at an advantage for sure.

    Hmmm... If I were in a situation similar to yours, I'd:

    Go to global media sources of updated and accurate industry news, economic news, business trade news, socio-politico analyses, market trend news and consumer behavior analyses. These are from their large teams of prolific industry consultants, business analysts, economists, finance advisers, socio-politico columnists, journalists, field researchers, sociologists, anthropologists and psychologists. They publish this data on their websites and offline publication materials for everyone to see...

    Analyze data relevant to the fitness niche, clothing industry and trends from the publications of those global media corporations...

    Since you're included in your own supposed target consumer market, I'd ask myself these questions while studying the data mentioned above:

    1. What solutions will people consider as the most beneficial solutions for satisfying their immediate fitness needs, satisfying their immediate clothing needs, solving their urgent fitness problems and solving their urgent clothing problems?

    2. What do they expect to get each time they search on the Internet and inform and educate themselves about those solutions?

    3. What exactly are their thoughts and expectations at the exact time they use a specific keyword on Internet search engines?

    4. What will they consider as educational and informative online content helpful in pinpointing the best solutions for their relevant needs and problems?

    5. In what styles and ways should the content be delivered so they can effectively relate to the content and its developer/author?

    6. What sort of content should be given to them, for them to most likely consider its developer/author as a friendly, expert resource of beneficial solutions and content relevant to their needs and problems?

    7. Which online places do they regularly visit because they expect to view beneficial solutions and content as well as participate in relevant discussions with niche experts and others with similar needs and problems?

    8. What do they mention about existing solutions, their needs and problems, in those discussions?

    9. In which particular phases are they most likely expected to purchase those solutions online?

    The data I would have at this point will be helpful in:

    •keyword research;
    •analyses of top competitors and their competing products and online content portals ranked as the top search results for relevant keyword searches;
    •product and unique selling proposition development;
    •development of promotional online and offline content;
    •strategic onsite and offsite content marketing campaign development;
    •strategic social media marketing campaign development;
    •strategic offline and online viral marketing campaign development;
    •development of strategic mailing list/membership campaigns; and
    •development of business backend and frontend workflow processes, training materials, monitoring systems and campaign improvement processes...

    Choosing the right keywords is helpful in increasing the effectiveness of your online marketing campaigns, though I for one don't just focus on search engine rankings and nothing else. My primary objective is to hang out where my target market hangs out on the Internet, so I could:

    •try to build mutually beneficial professional relationships with them by also building my reputation as a friendly, expert resource of updated and relevant content, products and services; and
    •try to build mutually beneficial proffessional joint venture partnerships with other businesses...

    I been reading and researching about IM for a little while now. I seem to have a good understanding on what it takes I just need to engage in the process and take action. I am currently building a blog and ready to build some traffic along with building up my subscribers. One of my good friends is helping me with this because he is way more experienced in the game and put ome on to Frank Kern methods on building a good list. I am trying to focus on one thing at a time and want to really be prepared before I launch anything.

    How do i go about creating a good opt-in page to start building my list? and what would be a good url in the fitness/health niche based off some good keywords with low competition? SEO someone let me know how to get some good quality traffic bc I have had blogs only get me 100 vistors a day and couldn't seem to top that?

    First off, do not spend money on "systems". Especially not until you have read this forum until your eyes bleed and then researched elsewhere. The worst thing to do is to jump in and throw money around, I can assure you there are people who will happily take it from you and sell you a load of re-hashed rubbish.

    For $5000 you can get all those things up and running.

    Spend some money on all the tools like a website, auto-responder, a great sales copy etc...

    Then when everything is ready, spend most of the money on PAID advertising.

      Hey George

      welcome to the community

      If I were you I would take $79 of your money and get over to James Schramko's Traffic Grab http://www.trafficgrab.tv

      It's basically an all information package about Traffic and conversion and will give you everything you need to know, to be successful on the net.

      If you follow it diligently you will certainly see some good profits

      Why he is doing it at that price at the moment completely boggles me, because it is a $2k course and provides you with everything you need to know. I don't normally push products on here but this is a no brainer at the moment and I don't know how long he will keep it so cheap. I think he is running some sort of test or something. My team have been using it to smoothen up our traffic process and we are getting great results.

      A good free course for beginners is Ed Dale's Challenge http://www.challenge.co

      Good Luck

    If you are new to the game - there will be a huge learning curve to understand/implement and most importantly succeed in the many different aspects of what you want to create.

    My advice for you would be to buy a website on Flippa that is already making money in your niche. You can spend a few K to acquire a website that makes a few hundreds in revenue. The most important part of the purchase for you would be to learn from the seller. So most important is to buy from an experienced seller with good feedback history and make sure that he'll provide you guidance and tips for growing the website.

    Hope that helps and good luck!

      If you know nothing about IM, you should browse IM forums and take note of the different ways people are earning money. A $37 membership will give you access to more detailed information about the different methods available.

      Once you figure out which route you want to take, then you should start spending money on the items you need for your method, i.e hosting, domain names, content for your sites, advertising if you decide to go the paid route, etc.

          whats up WF

          Just wanted to update you with my progress since i first posted the thread.

          I got an ebook and article being written on my fitness niche. I have been in contact with a few copywriters willing to help. I got a blog up on wordpress which I am still looking for an article writer to post fresh content daily. If you know anyone let me know asap. I am currently researching SEO and starting to understand it a lot more and starting to figure what type of keywords I should be looking for which makes me feel good. I am working with an IM guru in the game that I know personally and we are actually teaming up on buying an established site off flippa which I will be learning first hand about the whole process of an established product that we will tweak and drive more traffic too.

          I am also working full time got a salary offer and going to graduate in a couple weeks. My clothing company is still coming off the ground but I am implementing some IM to drive traffic as well. Looks like I am making progress. If you want to add some more knowledge or comments give me shout.

          Thank you all I appreciate the support and I love to learn so keep it coming.

            For what it's worth, why don't YOU be that article writer or at least be the one providing the content for it.

            You can: tape yourself answering some fitness questions that you can come up with on your own, or have someone new at the gym ask you for some tips on say, lifting, clothing for bodybuilders, well, you get the point.

            Now just type it up into article form or have it done for you.

            Between fitness and clothing, you should have tons of information to be ready to go onto paper or rather, computer.

            Good Luck!

    Put your money away - for awhile anyway. My recommendation is to check out as many free resources as possible from the leading names in internet marketing.

    My experience was that after a few weeks I started to really see a difference in the sincere and unsincere. For my money I have found Chris Farrell for the basics and super training. Yaro Starak is exceptional on blogging. Jeff Johnson is a "super affiliate" and has some awsome programs.

    The hall mark of each is they will say frequently "over deliver quality" and "serve". I circled these programs for several weeks and found each of these three to be absolutely true to their mantra.

    Their materials are free on the internet. Sure they have hooks but you do not have to buy until you are ready. I suspect they would each tell you they don't want your money -- until you are ready and committed.

    I have also spent a lot of time listening to Internet Business Mastery.com. The owners, Jay and Stirling are exceptional pod cast personalities and deliver the real deal. The key - over 60 pod casts are free and are from 30 to nearly 60 minutes long each.

    I listen to them and other pod casts in the car instead of dead air or mindless radio.

    Check them out - hang on to your money - you will know which is right for you. The truth is the Internet Business Mastery has an interview with one internet marketer that says right up front he never bought any courses and learned his program with all the free materials in the net. The down side - he did most of his growth in the early part of 2000 when marketing was just getting its legs. Article marketing was really just getting started. He also took six or so years just to get some "traction" in the market.

    Taking a Chris Farrell or Starak or Johnson course may cut that time down -- some.

    But he says in the interview that he makes five figures monthly - selling products other than how to make money programs. So if you can believe that position - it offers some real hope.

    Anyway - best of luck. If you keep looking and want to work together - let me know - I want to associate with like minded long term thinkers.

    You might be interested in the materials on my blog. It may be useful in your research. Hope it is useful to you. Let me know what I can do to help - just drop a comment - I will respond.

    Best of luck - cheers!

    Its been a while WF! Man I been so busy with work, projects, more work, projects, and more work.

    No worries though because I have been learning, researching, and putting in time developing my skills as well as implimenting them. I got burned with my ebook for the fitness niche from someone on the WF that I am trying to get back in touch with for a refund. So many promises but not a lot of people can deliver and the people who do are good business people that I would like to work with and are probably the sucessful ones. To make a long story short I am still running my clothing company which is expanding and we are networking with a lot of other established companies to form collaborations and do some promos. We have also been supporting and sponsoring a few events, music artists, and talented people to help get our name out there. We are trying to tweek our site just a little more and things seem to be looking up.

    I purchased a flippa site in the gaming niche with a partner which is helping learn a lot. We have made a lot of progress, some money, and are working to build it up for the long term.

    I am still trying to get into the fitness niche so be on the look out for some updates. I am going to do some videos with a bunch of upsells and downsells with a coaching program and a few other options. Things don't happen over night and it takes a lot of work but it feels good to make progress.

    Talk to you soon and if you have any more advice I am always willing to listen

    I really like your opinion and your interest to start up an online biz, meanwhile i think you should go into research on the niche your interested in...you can as well head over to Ebay and search for what people are looking or serching for and do more research, get yourself an ebook, from that site rather than jumping into a business without a proper research and make sure you get a rich keyword domain.
