Hi Warriors...
I've just bought a WordPress template and am a little overwhelmed about where to begin. I have a decent handle on uploading files to my server etc so I'm just wondering if any of you could point me in the direction of an easy to understand "How To Get Your WordPress Site Up and Running" guide. Many thanks, Beaumont |

Dear Beau and Fellow Warriors,
I would recommend that you see and Feel Free to Participate (/Post all your questions, issues and concerns RE: WordPress) in the discussions on these topics at: WordPress Q & A and in that Website Design and Maintenance - 4AllAccounts Forum. As you will find Many People there who have both previously encountered the same issues / asked the same questions and Many others there, as here in the Warrior Forum, who are Very Friendly and Helpful in helping you get up and running successfully with WordPress! ok?I would also recommend you read and participate in the Forums for WordPress, at WordPress › Blog Tool and Publishing Platform (I think?), ok? I hope this all helps, see you there, and Have a Great Day! ![]() - Michael |

1) Log into your host control panel and create a new database, writing down the database name, user name and password
2) Download WordPress from WordPress › Download 3) Unzip the archive, rename wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php 4) Open wp-config.php with notepad, and fill in the database name, user name and password you wrote down 5) Upload the whole thing to your site 6) Visit your blog at http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php (replace example.com with where you uploaded the files) You will get a form where it asks for your blog name and basic details like that, you click next to. You're done. WordPress is installed and you can reach it by typing the URL of your site. To use the theme you bought, upload it to a subdirectory of /wp-content/themes/ . |

The easiest way to start using WordPress is if you have a webhost with Fantistico. Then you can install WP by just clicking a button or two. Then you use FTP to upload your them to the right folder and you're set.

I'd recommend prayer and sacrifices to your household gods!
![]() Seriously, you need to check out the resources already mentioned here. WP is such a good CMS, you can't afford to ignore it. On the other hand, it's far from intuitive to use. Get with someone who started with it and has grown comfortable with it over time. |
