New to online business. Need a bit of help.

Ok, long story short, I make my money in offline business consulting. I help others start and run local businesses. This is my first "online" venture full force. I say full force because I have a blog. Not very big, but a blog none the less. I would like to get into the online side of things. I was wondering, I currently have a few "ebooks" that I have created in my area of knowledge, and my site is sort of a good starting arena in the same niche. So, would it be logical to scrap the blog and go with a static "landing/sales" page and drive traffic (another issue) or keep the blog and add a sales page somewhere on the site? I also have a hard time deciding what to price it at. Its the type of information product that if followed correctly could make a major impact on quality of life, in the good way, but I have come to the conclusion that since I am a "virtual" nobody (see what i did there. lol) that a big price tag may just cause me more problems than good. Please be gentle, I'm still trying to learn the online game

Why not keep the blog for SEO. Put a list sign up form in your sidebar and maybe as a lightbox to collect opt-ins. Then funnel other traffic (articles etc) right to your squeeze page.

Hard to say regarding the pricing of your product without seeing it. You can probably get more for it if you separate paragraphs

    1. Keep the blog going, and keep adding your advice to it.

    2. Add an autoresponder to the blog (ie aweber).

    3. Lure in sign ups with a quick report on your business. It could be just a few pages, and they get the freebie in return for their name and email

    4. Keep blogging, and communicate with your list by sending them regular updates.

    5. Create your full blown ebook on the topic. You can also survey your visitors and ask them for what detailed information they are seeking. Make sure to add this to your ebook.

    6. Spend some time setting up some social site profiles, and link back to your site.

    7. Write some articles on your topic, and submit to article directories. You can link back to your site - and write articles with the intent of getting them syndicated.

    8. Be social, add to the blog, build the list, and when you have your ebook done and you feel you have a fair amount of people on your list all you would do is add a sales page - and this can be tacked anywhere in your site because you can drive traffic to it directly by sending out your autoresponder.

    9. Have some associated products or other helpful products lined up to promote. These can be from other people or just more products you create.

    10. Find someone with a complimentary niche, and try adswaps with them. They will drive traffic to your offer too.

Come back after you get all this going, and I'll give you some more.

You obviously have experience in your field and now you are offering that to help others... available online. You have to build your credibility with people, that is part of the sales process. You build a case for why they should buy from you the same as you would to offline customers.
Part of it is perceived value also. If you sell it for nothing then people will see it as worth nothing. Cheers
