Any tips? Or am I the only person who has trouble with this? I wish when you got money, depending on where it came from, PP would put it in an appropriate "folder" so you could see where money came from and how much you have from each thing automatically. How do you keep track of your Paypal money and income or do you do it all manually with Quickbooks or something? Thanks.

Every transaction has quite a bit of info associated with it, such as the product name or ID for something you sold. I just download the data monthly and process it with a spreadsheet. |

My book-keeper constantly battles with the PayPal downloadable logs. She finds errors in their calculations all the time which makes it difficult for her to reconcile with our own accounting system. Be aware of this. It started to happen a few months ago and still hasn't been corrected. Not sure if it's a PayPal UK thing or more widespread. Cheers, Neil |

Since each transaction is a separate row when put in a spreadsheet, as long as the numbers for each one are correct, you can do all the math with spreadsheet functions (such as monthly totals or whatever). I wouldn't hold my breath expecting PayPal to make the data any more usable than it already is (other than correcting any errors, which I've never noticed). If you even got a straight answer from them, I'm sure they'd say that since you can export it to a spreadsheet or Quickbooks, it's up to you to do any classifying or categorizing. | |
