Need to use Real Name when register Domain ?

What is stopping you not using your real name that will appear on Who Is ?

Would this make a problem if you wanted to sell the domain in the future?

Thanks

I always use my real name to register all my domain names and if needed use the who is guard. In case you want to sell the domain do not use the who is guard or disable it. The buyer would obviously like to verify if you the real owner or not.

So Privately, you mean for example with Godaddy, Names by Proxy?

'Who is' - Guard, can you turn it on and off?
      When do you 'activate' it?

If in the future you want to sell a site or domain, is the password enough? Or do you need to show ID card or passport or something like this?

    namecheap.com/products/whoisguard.aspx

    whoisguard.com/

Looks like $2.88 a year for when you want to cover the owner ID, and not with namecheap.

Privacy Protection looks great, I noticed, "Privacy Protection can be disabled/enabled at any time and is provided absolutely FREE."

But I can not see where to register your site? I am feeling a bit silly !!!!

I do not want to go out and give BS information, I want to do the right thing, but I have a friends who is being harassed, and he thinks it's the Who IS data base that gave his residential address, I don't need the same crap !

    PS, found an answer: .privacyprotect.org/contact/#

If he doesn't already have privacy on his domain (s) then adding one now will stop future searches but his full details may still be shown in cache versions. To fully protect your privacy you need to enable privacy protection at the time of purchasing the domain.

I'd also suggest you get a business address like a mailing address or a po box. I have a business address I use.

You can use whois guard protection. If you register domain for 1st year namecheap gives it for free of cost

With some sites you need to pay an extra fee to register
    privately. I have found with 1 & 1, I can register privately
    at no extra cost.

When someone runs any of my domains through WhoIs,
all they get is the address of 1 & 1.

I never use whois guard to protect my domains. I actually do want people to be able to access it if they would like to make an offer on a site.

If I don't want my name there, I use a company name. The email address must be legit though.
