eBay haven't used CJ for a long while, the ebay.rover links are still current and being used by the eBay Partner Network.

Hello Kael41

I was looking for a similar plugin for a wordpress blog. After looking for a long time I finally came across this plugin which can do what you are looking for. It's called Item-It

WP Plugin Amazon Item | Great Deals On Net (non affiliate link)

I haven't used it yet, but I tried a smaple post on two different hosts. It worked great with hostgator but not with my other host.

Check out their sample blog posts, sounds interesting.

My only concern is about duplicate content. Some products on amazon have hundreds of customer reviews and all these get fetched on your blog. There isn't seem to be any control over how much content (in terms of word count or number of reviews) can you display on your blog.

@nichewebstrategies > your plugin and blog looks great too. I ask you the same question again about duplicate content. Recently there was a long thread about creting blogs with duplicate content and many warriors seem to confirm that "you should not link two webpages that have similar content on them"

Here it is >
1 Hour Of Work Made Me $628.94 So Far....

With this rule, "content on your blog links to a webpage on amazon.com (through your affiliate link) which has the same content as a "product detail page". How does this work out as far as SEO is concerned.

Thanks....

Ebay still uses the rover links to track clicks even though they are no longer with CJ so you shouldn't have any issues there.

Sorry, I've been out of town the past week.

The status is that work is still being done on it and the good news is that I have a blog up and running where you can sign up for updates on progress and you can also be notified when it is ready to go.

I've posted a few features there with lots more coming in the next few weeks.

The blog link is below in my sig so you can have a look around.

Thanks,

Brad

I'm getting very excited about this! The sample sites look great and the plug-in is feature-rich.

I noticed one of the features is customizable templates. Will there be out-of-the-box templates for those who want to use them?

Will the eBay integration only work with phpBay Lite, or can we use phpBay Pro if we have it?

Awesome features you have listed for the plugin. Will we be able to add our own content as well as post titles? Manually add product to our sites? Be able to set posting time and to assign to a category? For instance set the plugin to post 2 products per category at different time intervals.

Yes, there will be quite a few out of the box layout options for those who choose not to use the custom templates.

Right now I am only adding PhpBayLite integration mainly because I don't have a version of PhpBay. That is something that I am considering for a future release.

@Joseph: Yes you can change the post titles and pretty much change any of the content coming from Amazon (description, reviews, etc). In some cases, the product description is kind of weak, so I see the need to add additional content.

As for the assign categories and manually add the products question, the way the interface is set up it is integrated into the add new post page of wordpress, so you can do all the things you mentioned just like you would normally create posts to publish at intervals or a specific date.

I have a question about your new plugin. Do you just add it in at the Widget section of your blog or do you have to ftp it in?

You just ftp it to your plugins folder and activate it just like any other wordpress plugin. Once you do that you will have several widgets that are available for you to use along with the main plugin functionality that allows you to create product review posts to your blog.

Brad, I use a plugin currently called wordbay that minimizes a footprint of having all outbound links going to ebay. the plugin simply uses a buy.php file to make it look like the links are on the same site. The questions I have are: 1) could a plugin like wordbay be used concurrently with yours, or 2) would you consider adding the functionality of cloaking those links to ebay (or amazon for that matter) so that all of our sites don't start to look like BANS to search engines? I have found that with BANS, so many outgoing links to ebay listings per page is not a good thing.

the thing I like about wordbay is that it has geotargeting, and you can also set minimum # of bids so you don't get all duplicate listings. Also the fact that it is free doesn't hurt. I think it is much more powerful than phpbay lite for the same price.

You can bring in all the details of Amazon (description, ratings, etc..) and then integrate price comparisons with CJ and Linkshare affiliates and of course eBay auctions.

I am adding additional features now and hope to be done by the first of the year. I've been using it on a test site for Christmas and doing quite well I might add.

When I decide to sell it, I will need some testimonials and will give away free copies for those who want to participate.

You can check out the site toptoyreview(dot)com I am using as my holiday selling website. (btw, I am not soliciting sales, just showing an example of how I am using the plugin on my site)

I will also be posting a thread soon on how I used PPC to drive traffic to this site and made money for the holidays.

So far I've spent $300 on PPC and pulled in almost $1300 in sales in 2 weeks. Not bad for getting started late in the selling season.
Seems the first you may want to give the chance is Kael41 thanks to his question you now have a lot of interested people concerning your plug in.
I too am interested, so yes please add me to your list for when you make it available.
Please make it within reason, you will probably sell quite a few.
By the way, very nice site. I love WordPress....

Thanks

Link cloaking is being added now as part of the feedback from beta users. Most feel that this is something that is needed.

I tend to agree and so it will be available for the amazon links. As for the ebay links, I am just leveraging the already available functionality of phpbaylite, and it doesn't offer link cloaking in the lite version.

If the demand is there for wordbay integration, I'll consider it for future updates.

Thanks for recommending it.

I would imagine pulling in content from other sites wouldnt go over too well with google? Wouldnt your site just be chock a block with duplicate content? Or are you just going to use it for PPC purposes and not seo

Good question. There are quite a bit of "product comparison" sites that are pulling in Amazon product descriptions and they are ranking very well.

One other thing to note is that content duplication across websites is a myth and has been debated at length on this forum. There are lots of folks using WP-o-matic to create posts from RSS feeds that are doing really well and that would be considered dupe content if that was true.

As long as you don't have the same content on multiple pages of YOUR site you should be fine.

You have the ability to modify the content pulled in from Amazon so you can make it as unique as you want, but I really feel it isn't worthwhile to do so.

I am not really advocating PPC over SEO traffic methods or vice versa, but PPC happens to be my main source of traffic when I promote sites using this plugin. (Mainly because I like to see results right away vs. waiting unitl the sites get indexed) , but I will say that I have a few sites right now getting decent traffic from the search engines using the product descriptions straight from Amazon and they are converting quite well.

Hope this helps,

Brad

Things are going well and I plan to send out an update to those who have signed up for updates this week.

There will also be a video to show off some of the features.

I haven't settled on a final price yet, but it will be right in line with other plug-ins out there.

Also, I will be sending future updates out to our subscriber list rather than this thread.

Best,

-Brad

Hello Brad,
I am very interested in your plug-in when it becomes available. I have just become an Amazon associate and am having problems installing their widgets on my wordpress blog (postioning on the page & adjusting to the template I'm using) . This plug-in of yours sounds a much better solution. Please can you add me to your list.

Thanks
Keren

Have a great day

I haven't been updating this thread much the last few weeks since I've been sending out communications to those that have signed up for updates on the web site.

I'll be sending out another update tomorrow to the list, but the latest update is that I plan on launching the 1st full week of April. I've still got a few updates to make and I need to finish the documentation and as well as a few videos.

I've gotten some incredible feedback and for that I am very humble. I just want to make sure that I am giving a solid piece of software and so a few more weeks of testing and tweaking should do it.

The affiliate program should be up at that time and those of you who want to make some money promoting it will have a very good chance to do that.

If you haven't seen the demo video that I put out a few weeks ago, you should check that out. The link is in my signature.

I've gotten a lot of emails about the ability to schedule product reviews and bulk post them to one or more blog categories. You will be able to do this as well as "drip feed" them over time.

I've added a new video that demonstrates that functionality:

Schedule Amazon Product Review Posts
