If You Had To Get 100,000 Facebook Fans...

Hi,

Today, I wanna post a challenge:

If you were in need to get 100,000 geo-targeted Facebook fans to a fan page real quick, what would be your best strategy?

Just assume the site has been build with viral elements, you were starting from zero, that means zero Facebook profiles, zero other Facebook property,. Any other leverag, money included, is allowed.

What do you think is the most effective strategy?

Best,
Dan

Dan, if I had to do this posthaste, I'd go straight to the source and use Facebook Ads. I think it'd convert pretty well, especially since you're driving visitors to a page within Facebook itself, instead of an external website.

Yes, good point, it's actually like a Trojan horse, once you're inside... ;-)

You can start by doing a bit of social media to get people aware of your brand.

Create a facebook page with an optin form, these pages are great because unlike squeeze page they can potentially go viral.

Create a twitter account and get many people who are interested in your niche to follow you. From time to time let your followers know about your fanpage to get more fans.

Send your fans facebook updates everyday to their newsfeed and encourage them to comment or 'like' your news updates. By doing that, your friends activities will be share with their friends. This will make your fanpage go viral.

There are many more ways of doing this, though this is just one simple method I used when starting out.

Well, it is provided that the fan page already exists. The twitter strategy to get followers to your fanpage is a good one, as is reinforcing likes to existing fans!

Geo-Targeted? wow...that's a tough one. Even if you targeted NY or CA...that's still a tough one unless your in the intertainment biz.

PostHaste, as in right now, I would initiate the campaign through SMS, mobile marketing. Just have a really good and juicy reason for them to actually become a fan.

When I get the base fans set and growing...I would start poking thier friends to come on board too.

Like I said though, it better be a really juicy reason for me to friend you as a fan.

Yes, you can! But you need to befriend the particular person or like that fan our group page first in order to get access to their pinboards.

I like the idea to combine moblie marketing with social media marketing! Problem here is you need access to phone numbers, which, depending on the country could be difficult or expensive.

Do you need proper fans? IE: genuinely interested in your page or is geo targeting the only criteria?

You also don't say if you have a budget for that.

    tell us more

that geo-targeting is a pretty big hurdle to overcome to get 100k fans in a short time period.

Here's a nifty Facebook Gadget you can use to supplement your income in a short time: a question of weeks only, or just use it for fun. - you’ll make a lot of friends; that’s for sure!

When you all are creating Fan Pages, which are you choosing?
    Product/brand/website?

There seem to be a zillion choices and I'm not sure what the differences are between them all.
