How Do You Properly Syndicate Articles?

Hi all!

If I write quality articles and post them on my website, will it hurt my ranking if I post those same articles unspun on the article directories?

What about if I post the same articles on different domains of sites that I own?

Thanks!
Vic

Neither will hurt the ranking of the original site on which they were posted.

This is (part of) the business model which has been in use for many years by some of the forum's most successful and most experienced article marketers, so it would certainly be something of a surprise if it could hurt your rankings!

But make sure that the content is always indexed on your own site before submitting it anywhere else.

If it helps or interests you, this thread contains a pretty good description of the difference between "duplicate content" and "syndicated content" and its significance (just the smallest modicum of judgement is required, to decide which participants in it know what they're talking about and which ones are just bullsh ... oops, excuse me: "which ones perhaps don't").

      Thanks Alexa!

It would be a serious pain in the butt to have to make NEW high quality content just for the article directories.. phew!

      That's a load off my mind. :-)

      Good Vibes

It was my understanding that the article directories such as ezinearticles would not accept articles that were published anywhere else. Including your own site.

I understand the difference between syndication and duplication but the better article directories' business model is that of syndication hub for the article. So they won't accept it if it's somewhere else already.

Most, including EZA, will take content that's already on your site so long as it is original to you. They don't require that it be unique, just that it be yours and yours alone. They get very cranky if they think you're using PLR or taking other people's articles and claiming they're yours.

Just curious why would you do that?
