Domain Flipping Help?

I'm interested in flipping a domain I own, but am not sure how to go about doing it or what the domain might be worth. To help you guys help me, here are some of the details:

  • .com domain that is exact match for a physical product
  • domain is a generic product type name, does not include brand or trademark names
  • product sells for between $20-100 at Amazon, with lots of related products of equal or greater value
  • keyword receives ~1,300 searches per month, ~100 exact
  • according to Scroogle, domain ranks on page 1 of Google for both broad and phrase match for its keyword phrase as a parked domain
  • less than 15,000 competing pages for exact keyword
I'm not particularly interested in building this into a whole website, but I'm not sure what something like this would be worth as just a domain. I was thinking of selling on Sedo.com, but would like to have a buying price in mind before I list.

Any domainers or flippers have tips for me? Any help would be appreciated!

    Hey Jillycakes,

There are so many potential variables when flipping domains, but you're doing ok on your initial research.
Bottom line is that a domain is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
You can drop on to dnforum dot com and actually get some pretty good value feedback.
For selling, try using that search term, then approaching the people who are actually selling that product. Ask them if they want the domain, and be sure to let them know that if now, maybe their competitor will :-)
What's the phrase match search volume?
Also, what's an average ppc price for the term? If people are bidding on the term, it's another indicator of value.

    Hope that helps!

    David

    Short and to the point.
What do you think you could get more money from?
An empty Lot somewhere or the same Lot with a two Bedroom House?

  • Since you didnt make mention of sales, I would say SEDO is a bad idea. EMD's are a dime a dozen these days and I see them selling on flippa for $50-$100 with revenue.

Your best bet is probably flippa or the section here on Warrior Forum for selling sites. I sold 50 or so EMD's back in the day right here on Warrior Forum and got around $50 a site.

Thanks for the feedback guys. To be honest, I figured I'd be looking at a low amount since I'm not willing/able to put the time into building and ranking the site. Maybe I'll try selling in the domains section with some original content to list on the site.

    Thanks again!

The worth of any domain is actually what a potential buyer
is willing and able to pay you.

Now, a domain with monthly income and traffic is worth
more than just a domain name only.

For example, if your domain earns a monthly domain
parking income of say, $10, you can multiply $10 by 18-72months
income depending on the age of your domain, type-in
traffic advantage and all of that.

To add to the above, you may add the value of your traffic
if and only if it is targeted enough. How will you calculate the
    value is another issue entirely.

But the common way I go about it is to take the average of the
top ten CPC of my domain name keyword and multiply by the
unique visits for the month. In this case, the number of months
to value the domain will be about 6 months.

    Example:
    YourDomain.com

    Makes $10 monthly
    Unique visit monthly: 100
Average CPC to advertise "your main keyword in domain" = $0.20
    6 months advance value

    Value of domain = 6[$10 + ($0.20 X 100)] = $180

There are 2 reasons to buy a site - traffic or income. Your site is a parked domain so lets assume no income. As for traffic potential, the exact match potential is 3 per day.

    Income valuation - $0

    Traffic valuation - $0

    Sorry ....
