How To Create And Sell Your Own eBook With A FREE Bonus!

Alright, so I've recently come to the conclusion that I am pretty much done dealing with problems/issues outside of my control and that it's now time to create my own product. However, I have some questions regarding the process. I know exactly how to go about creating my own eBook and selling it, it's just the minor steps that are giving me some trouble. I'd like for this thread to help out newbies create their own product as well as answer some of my questions.

Below is each step that I have taken in order to create and sell my own digital product as well as the steps I plan on taking/any questions I have about the process.

Write Up The eBook

Ok, obviously in order to sell a product you will need to create one first. And in my case the product is a weight loss eBook. I haven't finished writing up my eBook just yet but to be honest this will be rather easy for me. Here is a step by step process of what I have done so far.

1. Researched the hell out of my niche by looking at reputable websites, forums, and other high quality products. The whole point of creating a product besides making money is to help solve people's problems. Yes, more often than not the information is going to be available for free to some extent. But as long as you are doing the research for the customer and seeking out all perspectives of the solution (not simply just ripping off another eBook in your niche), you are providing the customer with value.

2. The next step I took was compiling my research and starting the writing process. There are many ways of going about writing an eBook but the way I did it was by using Word. Some general tips for making your eBook look somewhat professional is to add a header and footer with the page #, title of the eBook, logo, or whatever else you feel is necessary.

3. As I mentioned above, I am not yet done writing up my whole eBook but I still have a few tips for making your final product stand out from the rest. The most important thing to do when writing your eBook is to write according to your own style. You can't expect people to be satisfied with a product that is simply regurgitating one fact after another or completely ripping off another source of information. With that said, it is also important not to include to much filler. I don't know about you but when I start reading an eBook that starts off with several pages dancing around the point it pisses me off. People don't pay for bullshit, they pay for a solution.

Then again, some people may be just fine with this kind of product. In my opinion, there is a very find science to presenting your information and doing it in a way that includes style but doesn't overflow with bullshit. Ultimately, it is up to you how you go about writing your eBook.

Become A Merchant

After creating your own product you are going to have to become a merchant in one form or another. There are probably many more ways of doing this but the most popular ones are going through ClickBank, PayDotCom, Click2Sell, or PayPal.

This brings me to my first question. Does anyone have experience selling products through Click2Sell? And more specifically, am I going to have to deal with the tracking issues that I've been experiencing as an affiliate with ClickBank?

I realize that Click2Sell is no where near as popular as ClickBank but as long as there payment processing is solid and they do actually pay up then I'm fine. Plus if there are any affiliates that browse the marketplace, it will be rather easy to dominate my niche. I've taken a look at the selection and it's pathetic to say the least.

Create Your Sales Page

Now that you have created your product and set up a merchant account you'll want to go ahead and set up your sales page. In my opinion, this is the most important part. I am in no way shape or form a copywriting expert but I do know enough to realize the importance of a sales copy. If your sales page doesn't have any impact on the visitor then you just aren't going to convert. Here are some tips for making your sales page convert.

  • Make sure to immediately play into the visitor's emotions. Present them with a bold headline that further emphasises their reason for being there in the first place. They've already got a problem and it's your job to make that problem more apparent.
  • Tell the visitor that they have been doing things the wrong way up until this point.
  • Make the visitor feel like they are getting the most bang for their buck.
  • Make it very clear that you are doing them a favor and reiterate the fact that their problem will only get worse if they don't but into your solution.
Remember, I do not claim to be an expert at copywriting. I only wrote up these tips to help give you some ideas. These may very well contradict the "unspoken law of copywriting", but these are things that have helped me with affililiate marketing and I know that they work.

Add The Payment Option

Ok, this is where things get a little fuzzy for me because I am new to selling my own product. Here are some of the things that I don't quite get.

If I'm using Click2Sell for example, will the payment button request the buyer's payment and then direct them to a download page of my choosing?

Is there any way to require the buyer to opt-in before reaching the download page so that I can build a list and sell my product at the same time?

Alright, those are the only questions that I can remember at this point. I'm sure there are ten others that I am forgetting but I want to finish up this post.

I sincerely hope that this post has helped those who might be confused as to how to create their own product or at the very least gotten some of you thinking. Also, please try to answer my questions if you can.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry that I can't answer your questions.

However, I, too, am also writing an e-book (at the very beginning stages) and I look forward to the answers to these and other important questions that will come up in the coarse of this thread. As I have a lot to learn myself about the process of selling one's product - never done it before either!

Can't wait to learn from those with experience!
