      Thanks for the tip.
But what makes them better than others (I mean the leader ones) ?
Do you host merchant sites with Yahoo ?
I got a concern with Yahoo e-mail addresses as they are hackers favorits, but maybe this is unrelated...
      Have a great day !

Why Yahoo? Damned expensive. There's plenty out there...Hostgator is my choice and get your domain from Namecheap(dot)com.

Yeah, I don't think I'd go with Yahoo, too expensive. I have over 3500 products up on my store. I use JustHost. Any of the cheaper ones would be fine until you start to see huge increases in volume. When you start getting too much traffic, move it to a VPS. Thats my next step...

You must ensure that the eCommerce hosting company that you are signing up with is providing you with integrated online merchant accounts like Google checkout and Paypal so that online purchasing transactions become easier. Even the shopping cart software must be linked with the payment options. This will ensure fast transactions. The third most crucial thing is the SSL certificate. If there is an SSL certificate in your website, the customers will feel free to part with their information.

I just set up a friends with hostgator and it's working great. We had it with godaddy hosting for about a month and it lagged a lot.

I would say hostgator.com is my choice. I have never had a problem with them and they are fairly inexpensive.

We also set him up with WordPress Ecommerce a WordPress Shopping Cart Plugin as the e-commerce. It's working well for a wordpress site.

HostGator's great and very reasonable hosting prices too, for almost any site.

Also, one of my favorite features of HostGator is their customer support live chat. It has saved my butt a few times.

Personally I'm using Site5 right now, not for an e-commerce site, but for a bunch of WordPress based sites.

They have excellent customer service, and considering I use shared hosting on one of the accounts I have with them, it runs pretty fast and they don't seem to oversell servers like some hosting providers.

I use Namecheap for all my domain registration, I like to keep that sort of thing separate.

Oh, and 1&1 is nice because they offer free privacy forever. Then, I point the nameservers to HostGator.

Do it right from the beginning. Go with a VPS. You can get a decent managed VPS starting around 60 bucks a month. Stay away from HostGator shared hosting for this.

    Amanita,

we've corresponded before and I hope your ecommerce business is moving along.

I use magento as my shopping cart and I use Aspiration Hosting | Premium Hosting Solutions

You can start off with the $9.99 per month hosting plan and then upgrade when and when you need it.

I have no issues with them and am very happy with their service.

HostGator always gets my vote. I've never run into any problems with them. They support most anything that you'll need, and allow upgrading to VPS and dedicated hosting as your website grows. They're a reputable host too, so no worries about them dropping off the map out of nowhere.
