JV with 50 / 50 split and I feel bad

I know this is probably ridiculous but we did some easter sales a few days ago and mailed a list of 7000 people. We got great sales from that.

Now I just spoke with an admin of a huge site in our niche with a big list and offered him to do a 50 / 50 split on a jv. He probably would have settled for less.

No idea what I should make out of this lol. It's still money, but it will be pretty painful to give half of it away (even though its a digital product...).

Thoughts?

    Be glad you got it.

Edit: I might add that in the future you first ask what they want before making an offer. There's
an old saying in business, the first one to mention a number loses.

Actually, you don't give away anything. Without your JV partner you wouldn't be able to reach those prospects/leads.

What is better: 100% of nothing... or 50% of a nice dollar amount?

I was just going to say a similar thing to Istvan...

I'd prefer to get 50% of something, than 100% of Sweet
      Fanny Adams!

In addition to getting 50% of the sales, much more importantly
you're also acquiring paying customers who have lifetime value.

Now, begin to think like a marketer and business person and
develop a back-end strategy to turn the first time buyer into
a repeat purchaser of more products and services at higher
      price points.

See how it works out first before you get worried about it. You are building a great relationship and making money at the same time. It's a win-win.

Yea, I don't see how you're losing out here... If you didn't JV with him it's likely you wouldn't have even reached that block of people.

    It's a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate this. Never did it with such a high cut before... and this will probably be the biggest sale we will ever do... a bit excited here lol.

Atleast you get 50% of a nice chunk of money! What your missing is your chance to build on your brand. With the J.V try to get the people off his list and onto your, then you will be building your list and brand and future sales. This is a great opportunity for you

That 50/50 might build enough trust to get a 2nd JV, which could double what you would make on a single deal.

Sometimes you gotta give, in order to get.

If this one is a success and well it will be because its exactly the same kind of crowd we sell to but over there they are still "untouched" we will do this on a regular basis.

Just got to make sure the server won't screw up and we have enough people for support. Crazy times. Thank you Mr. Internet...

I remember my first JV with the late Joe Robson. Spent a few days setting it all up on the site but because it was all automated I just sat back all weekend seeing the biggest payday I'd ever had - my BlackBerry was red hot from PayPal notifications!

Oh to go 50/50 like that every weekend...

I only actually asked now because the Easter sales we had were kinda good (20k extra) and just thought screw it, I got nothing to lose.

Just have to get used to this kind of money. But then again there was a time when I was really happy making 3k / month.

How is Paypal these days with big influx of money? We are in really good standing with them and have barely any refunds and all that. We have our own rep as well since some time.

They dont shut people down anymore when they get lets say 100k in 3 days?
