Alternative to Amazon

I am trying to choose an acceptable alternative to Amazon.....I am under the impression that in New York, I cannot get accepted to promote amazon products, so I am in search of an alternative. I came across buy.com, but was hoping for some feedback from warriors with more experience with physical product companies. Till now, I have only promoted info products.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

CJ mostly focuses on digital products and services (though its MUCH better than ClickBank, as far as quality of products are).

How about eBay? they sell physical products.

There are many top physical product retailers within CJ.

Go to the major drop shippers. You don't even have to buy the products they only ship what you sell. Build a site with top selling items and market them.

Or, as the drop shipper who their top sellers are and affiliate with them.

There is a a ton of cash to be made with this method because most drop ship resellers will give you 25% comm vs the 8% I get with Amazon. Or if you are the reseller you get 50% to 90% of the sale.

thank you all I will reply better this evening

          please keep em coming

I am almost certain that amazon stopped taking or dealing with NY and several other states because of I think sales tax issues or something like that.

anyone else in NY using amazon? I really need amazon or their direct competition, whomever that is.

ebay may be a possibility to look into.

That list won't be very big!

            Found this on Google though....

"The Colorado legislature should have foreseen this outcome - it's not the first time Amazon has been forced to shut down affiliate programs. In July of 2009, Amazon closed off their programs in Rhode Island and North Carolina, and has previously sued over a law passed in New York in 2008. The suit, however, was eventually thrown out and Amazon has since been paying taxes for New York affiliates they feel are too valuable to give up."

You can see the full article here

Looks like they still allow New Yorkers to promote products... whether or not they allow new sign ups I'm not sure.

If you can, I'd suggest you stick with Amazon to promote affiliate products - they are by far the best.

What if you formed an LLC in Nevada or Delaware, and then used the LLC to promote Amazon products? The LLC would have its address in that state, so you might be able to bypass the issue; I'm a greenhorn when it comes to this stuff so don't take my word on this, but it might be something to look into.

              Thanks again to everybody !!!

Well Im likely moving to Florida before the end of the summer, so I guess if amazon turns me down (gonna give it a try), it's not the end of the world.

I liked the response on the out of state LLC...lol very creative, as where there is a will, there is always a way.

I belong to cj and linkshare, but they are not really what I needed. Basically Im in a niche where I have traffic and a list, but for my funnel I needed a complimentary physical product with a bang and sending them to amazon seemed a no-brainer.

I really do appreciate all of you that took the time to help me out and I hope one day I can help all of you out as well.

BTW - of course more input and ideas will always be appreciated.

                .
I'm literally doing this right now; I am a California resident living most of the time in San Diego, but have an LLC based out of Henderson, NV and promote for amazon, cj, clickbank, and a few choice others. This is 100% legal, and with California's "internet tax" bill coming up shortly, it may have been the smartest bit of foresight I've had recently.

You could try selling through Squidoo and use their Amazon modules - as they are the affiliate, it doesn't matter if you are in a banned state. They distribute the profits 50-50. i.e. you get 50%

I have tried stores like Target (through Google's Affiliate network), but customers seem to prefer to buy from Amazon (I think because they all have accounts there already. Having to set up a new account before you buy is always a stumbling block, even when dealing with well known sites like target)

You can also try Ebay.com for affiliate selling. You just have to contact some trustful and honest drop shipping company who will give commission on selling their products. You can sell their products on your eBay online store and get some nice money.

    Walmart (Home - Affiliate Program - Walmart.com)

    Target (http://www.target.com/Affiliate-Program-Partnerships-Affiliates-Shopping/b?ie=UTF8&node=3008941)

CJ has tons of physical affiliate products, whoever said it is mostly digital products is wrong. The majority of offers on CJ are either physical products or CPAs. Linkshare and the Google Affiliate Program have quite a few physical product affiliates as well.

I've seen dropshipping mentioned several times throughout this site. What exactly does dropshipping means and how does it relate to IM?
