Anyone Use 2Checkout.com?

I wanted to know if anyone uses 2Checkout.com to process Credit Card transactions?

I'd like to use a non-PayPal processor for one of my sites.

If this one isn't the best can you recommend another?

Thanks,

Kenneth

Yes I'll tell you about 2Checkout..

They banned me because I used my 1 account to sell more than one product.
You have to open a new account for every product you sell through them and opening an account was $49 last time I checked.

That's a $49 cost for each of your products before you even sell anything.

I was using the JVManager script to manage my checkout process so all the sales were coming from the one domain but that wasn't good enough for them.

Also, you can't even use your own funds on your own account to pay for other goods (you can do this with PayPal but not 2Checkout).

On a positive side - their checkout process does not require your customer to sign up with them.

I have been using 2checkout.com since last 4 years and never had any problem with them. There customer care service is excellent and you get prompt response from them.

I have been selling 4 products but they never asked for separate account for each products but yes it should be sold from one domain because they allow one account for one domain only.

They offer various payment options to withdraw your fund weekly. The best things is that they collaborate with payoneer.com and they issued a debit card so we don't need to wait for our funds and can withdraw through master card ATM any where in the world.

There integration is very simple and has various options.

      In short I recommend 2CO.

I used 2CO for a while and found them to be idiots and that is putting it nicely.

I used 2checkout, over all, it is good, but:
    1. as above, you have to open multiple accounts for multiple products. but I believe if you use JVM on one domain, you do not need pay the multiple account fee.
    2. too many frauds. and even 2co said ok, the order passed check. if they found the order was a fraud, they just held the $. if you shipped, you lost.

but on the other side, the ratio between 2co & paypal used by my buyers is changing. before, it was 1:10, now, more & more buyers use 2checkout, about 1:5, or even more.

    good luck

  • I use 2CO in addition to PayPal on our website. We give our customers the choice of which payment processor to us during the checkout process.

We have over 2200 products on our site. 2CO has never asked us to create additional accounts for each product.

I can say most of our customer base choose to use PayPal over 2CO when given the choice. I would estimate our customers use 2CO approximately one fifth of the time in comparison to PayPal.

I use 2checkout with 1SC and am able to sell multiple products without paying the additional fee. In fact we sell 400+ products on that one same domain. So far happy with their service.

The ratio of payment choice between 2checkout and paypal on our website is around 5:5. So I do feel money is left on the table if another payment processor is not used.

Perhaps the problem would be selling with multiple products with different domains?

Ron, would you share the story instead of just badmouthing a solid company that works for others (and me personally)?

Hendry, you have asked for details and I will provide them:

For some time I provided the option of using PayPal or 2CO and a minority chose 2CO. This small number of sales caused me no end of troubles.

Let me give you the worst example. Some months after making sales I was contacted by 2CO asking to provide more details of the people I sold to. More details? I am in Australia and they were all in the USA. Did they think I visited them on the weekend of called them to see how they were? We are talking about very low dollar sales here. I had no further details.

Anyway, the idiot at 2CO for some strange reason began contacting my customers, asking if they were happy. One customer supposedly made a comment that "they expected a CD, not a PDF", or words along those lines. So the idiot contacts me and tells me that I have misled this customer. Fortunately, I had some email correspondence with this customer that proved that he new he was receiving a PDF report and forwarded the correspondence to 2CO, asking the person involved where was the CD reference.

To cut a very long, annoying, stupid, story short, I never heard from 2CO again and received my payment for what I has sold. Never have I had such a runaround from PayPal even though many more sales and dollars go through that account.

In summary, why did 2CO suddenly decide to contact my customers, who had no complaints sent to me? I then had to spend a lot of time over a small amount of money to prove that my sales were legitimate.

A business that goes out of it's way to annoy and waste the time of customers is run by fools and that is why I will tell anyone and everyone that 2CO is to be avoided.

Is this good enough for you Hendry, or do I need to detail every stupid email they sent to me? It would be a very long answer.

When they (2CO) closed my account I was using one domain to handle the checkout process for all my products (using the JV Manager script) but the sales page for each product was on a different domain.

This is where they had a problem.

The thing is.. the domain that handles the checkout is a subdomain of my main company website where all products are also displayed and sold.

        eg:
Product 1 is on companyDomain.com/Product1 and also on product1.com
Product 2 is on companyDomain.com/Product2 and also on product2.com
Product 3 is on companyDomain.com/Product3 and also on product3.com
Product 4 is on companyDomain.com/Product4 and also on product4.com

The ordering & checkout process is done from subdomain.companyDomain.com

Beats me why this is a problem for 2CO but for this I got banned.

Unfortunately, I'm not suprised at this story.

2Checkout's policy seem to be in first place, protect themselves. Next, protect their customers. In a very distant 3rd place is protect their vendors.

Protecting the company and protecting customers is very important. But as a vendor, I don't want to feel like a mild annoyance rather than an important part of their business.

    cheers

Thanks Ron for the story. I was expecting that in the first place. I am shocked to know that actually happened to you. And then I read Sam's story on the other thread. Seems like 2CO with its policy is PITA for a lot of people.

I have been using 2CO for about 2 years. So far so good. The only thing that I don't like is I can't spend the fund in my account like PayPal.

      I have been using 2CO since 2003.

Yes. They need to open different accounts if products are different. (Like hosting and scripts). I opened second one. They gave me discount of $19.00 as far as I remember for second account. But if you sell all ebooks from different web sites, I don't think you need to get second account.

So far no problems for me. Couple of times I received emails to change some buttons on my site to be 2CO compliant. That's it.

My main advantage is they do wire transfers internationally. So though they charge 5.5% of the sale, I have to use them as my PP.
