Great way to promote via email

I am offering services of web design and marketing.

One strategy I intend to try out is this:

I will create only a home page for a website of a particular business type. This will be for a site-preview purpose only.

I will make it look really attractive and impressive.

It would include generic photos and some text for the particular business branch.

The site is built in WordPress, btw.

Then I will select 10 companies from that branch and find their email contact info.

And then I will email them all at once with my offer!

Now comes the part where I need your help!

Im sure that by now you see what I am aiming at - sparking an interest and perhaps even getting a better price for my services.

I would allow an open bidding for that website.

I need your help to create the best way for this to function.

I will be using Gmail.

How could I best organize this way of promotion? How do I enable them to see the preview of my site - should I just give a direct link to the wordpress where it is being created or something else?

How should the bidding go - should they simply give a bid in their reply?

I think this is a great way to promote and I am obviously willing to share the idea, just help me out with some tricks of refinement.

Regards,

Wolf

    1. Buy an exact match domain targeting local professionals (best doctor in xxx, best plumber in xxx, etc.).

    2. Build an awesome website on that domain.

    2. Rank the site #1 for that exact phrase.

    3. Send a professional-looking snail mail to local business owners who might want to be on the site. Ask if they would rather be on the site or have a competitor be on it. Have them contact you with a bid for outright purchase or a monthly payment.

    4. Highest bid gets it.

    5. Rinse and repeat.

There are a lot of WSOs on how to do this. Maybe someone will be able to point you to a good one.

This is pretty much how I'd do it myself. In order to stand out from the crowd, in addition to using snail mail, I'd create a quick walkthrough video about the site, and stick it on a cheap (and typically bulkier) flash drive so that the envelope will feel lumpy to the touch - this will almost always result in them at least opening the envelope, instead of trashing it!

      • Sorry for perhaps asking a dumb question: what is snail mail?

I read an article about it on wikipedia and really didnt get a clear picture.

Thank you for your replies, this is really helping me take my thoughts to another direction.

Does anyone know a good WSO?

        Thanks for your help!

It's when you wrap up a giant snail and send it. Like this...
