Affiliate cloaking - Hide your affiliate link
There are several advantages on hiding your affiliate link, you might be losing conversions and you don't know about it.
If the link says click here for instant access and when they roll over with the mouse it says something funny 543%$#"4.com people won't feel comfortable on clicking
Another reason is (specially if you promote clickbank products) that people who is familiar with clickbank will know that they can purchase the product you are offering with their own clickbank account. So if your link is ricardo.hop.clickbank.com they can very easy change it to theiraccount.hop.clickbank.com and you just lost a comission after a hard work
This is a very cheap technique that will cost you less than 1 dollar and will help you prevent this problems to happen. I don't know the SEO impact but if you already have a blog or a site with affiliate products this will help you.
1) Think about a domain that either it's "generic" or is directed to your niche
2) Go to Domain Names, Web Hosting and SSL Certificates - Go Daddy
3) Look for that domain as .info they wil cost like 89 cents. For example if you want to offer several horse products you might want horseproducts.com but if you want to have several products you might want cheapoffers.info
4) After you purchased it, go to the domain manager
5) Select "forward" (this is for forwarding the main .info)
6) Write down your affiliate link
7) Click on advanced options
8) Click "forward with masking"
9) Fill out title, description and keyworkds
10) Click ok
11) Go for a cup of coffee or go to addictinggames.com to make some time while is being setup
It will take between a few minutes up to a couple of hours for the forward to be ready but this is the great part that when you enter the site your .info domain will remain on the address bar all the time so if the customer wants to return they will type YOUR domain.
Now, you can add up to 90 subdomains, this means that if you got horseproducts.info you can create supplements.horseproducts.info or hair.horseproducts.info.
In order to do that, you to the domain manager and click on "forward subdomains" at the bottom left, it will ask you the name of the subdomain and follow steps 6 through 10
