I am looking for advice on how to market my product.

I invented a dustless sander for drywall and currently sell on my web site. I will be doing direct mail to remodelers, painters, drywallers. But also considering going the conventional route of selling wholesale to retailers. This is likely the way to go but I do not have financing to back up a huge order if I do this. what are your thoughts. If you want to see the tool google Vacuu-Sponge. I cannot post a link on here yet. Not trying to sell just trying to get your opinion on how to market my product.

Thank you
John

There may be some resources available to you through your local Chamber of Commerce, or check out this nonprofit association of retired executives who are dedicated to educating entrepreneurs:

SCORE is a good place to go, especially for something like this.

One thing I learned while working in a small company is that banks will lend money based on signed purchase contracts.

If you have confirmed orders for 10,000 units, say, and it will cost you 50% to fulfill those orders (and you can prove it with sources), you shouldn't have much trouble finding financing.

Helping you through the process is where one of the SCORE volunteers comes in...

I looked at your product. License it to a manufacturer with
the contacts to get it widely distributed and move on. Invent
    something else.

There's a lot of folly in being attached to making a product for
the mass market yourself. Watch that movie with Greg Kinnear
about the guy who invented the intermittent windshield wiper.

Also, read "How to License Your Million Dollar Idea" - while the
book is an advertisement for the author's dubious invention
marketing services, the information about the reality of
    licensing in it is good.

What are you gonna do when some big company with lots of
capital decides to copy your product and flood the market?

Don't let that happen - license it, get your money, and move on.
