How to embed FLV video into homepage?

Hi Guys,

Wonder if you can help me?

I am looking to embed a .flv video into my homepage and do not want to use video sites like youtube etc...

I would like to use a standalone player but cannot make head nor tail of how to put all the code in to the homepage and get it to work!

Anyone know of a way i can do this?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for these I already have video web wizard, although the file i want embeded is already in .FLV format and it just will not work.

I have uploaded the files in the same folder and cannot get it to work.

I have no idea why!

Are you using a VWW player?

Are you getting an error or no vid showing, can you post or PM a link?

I can try and help out if you like, we've done many sites with videos on the front page for WSO's etc. and other projects.

Just give me a shout if you want.

I just embed using the insert media in dreamweaver. You end up having to upload the flv a swf player and the skin you are using. i'm not sure if you have to have flash for this though?

You have to have flashplayer installed for your browser to view flash content but I assume you already have it installed as most people do and the web is a lonely place without it.

You do not need to have "flash" as in the programming software though.

Generally when your video does not show up it means you have either messed up the code, messed up a path in the code to a supporting file, forgotten to upload all the supporting files, or uploaded the supporting files to a place where the code is not pointing so the player does not know where to look...

Occasionally it is because of extra unecessary code calling older versions of flashplayer causing confusion in the browser. Generally if this is the case the browser will give you a note that you need to download flashplayer or a plugin.

Additionally if you are trying to preview your pages locally and the embed code is using javascript windows will block the content from displaying. It is best to upload your files and preview online.

I use FlowPlayer. It's free, simple, and works VERY well. I don't bother with anything else.

It's used by several large news sites and is great!!
