Google Processes Javascript?

I was evaluating a site this morning, to determine why they were ranking high, what I need to do to out rank them, etc.

And I realized that Google is only giving them 4 back link credits, the main page is a PR4 ...

but what gets me is that a majority of the text on the entire site is wrapped in javascript!!

looking at the text-only cached version is not showing the hidden text -

So my question to all of you is:

Has anyone else suspected that Google *can* read/process javascript?

Or maybe someone has a better explanation?

    Hi
I believe page rank is awarded because of number and quality of links from external sites.

PageRank isn't really the issue I'm after - but I'll throw in my 2 cents on the matter - PR isn't only about back links - in fact many (myself included) believe that PR is dead/dying as a useful tool

I have a PR3 site that I've never promoted. Google shows no back links, but the site is consistently on page 1. So does PR have only to do with back links? I don't think so - I think that its a lot more complex than that (which is why I brought up the javascript question)

Backlinks at Google don't always seem to tally with known backlinks. I had a high PR Clickbank product page without any backlinks according to Google...yet I know I did from cpanel stats.!

There's some interesting info at webmaster world about Google being able to read javascript (dating back to 2005 !).
Does Google see javascript links now?

But to answer your question, yes Google reads
javascript. I read somewhere a few months ago
that they're working with adobe to read flash too.

They probably have plans of reading our minds
    eventually.
