Getting more views on youtube

I'm not exactly marketing a product and am just creating free web developing/programming related tutorials on youtube.

Since it's a fairly new account, I'm getting off to a slow start getting views. I've added about 50 friends so far and have gotten some subscribers and also made all of my videos (apart from the most recent 2) as response videos to others (I tagged as response videos).

I'm just wondering if I have to continue doing this or if I can just upload and forget about the other stuff. Hopefully people like the content of my video and my channel just gets more popular and naturally more views, rather trying to artificially inflate it with friends, special tags, etc.

I'm doing the basics like adding in useful tags for my videos and giving appropriate title's etc, but was wondering if just naturally uploading good content can start getting me more views. So far, I have about 3500 total views for all of the videos on my channel vids.

I'm not marketing anything, they're literally free tutorial videos on php, javascript, etc. (just posting them up to use some for my portfolio showcase as well)

You could always leverage sites like Twitter and Facebook to your advantage. Create a Twitter account, and interact with people who have questions that your videos could answer. Tweet links to your tutorials, and give tips and hints every now and then to showcase your knowledge. As for Facebook, you could join some tech groups and post up your videos. As time goes on, other people will eventually send views to your videos for you.

You could also start a blog related to your videos...make a vlog. Do a little optimization, focusing on titles and tags, and you'll start to see your traffic build daily.

thnx for the basics. I googled usernames of some of the successful youtubers in my niche and saw how they were doing it. I'll start out with twitter since it seems the easiest (don't have facebook at the moment, lol)

What I'm also interested in is my video popping up more often in search results and on the sidebar's related videos section. Is there an article briefly explaining how this works? I heard the more views I get, the more searched they become, etc. and I was wondering how this exactly worked.

Yahoo Answers and Reddit are a couple of sites you can get instant traffic from.

Also, join forums which relate to your niche, put links to your vids and put them in your siggy and/or post where relevant.

I don't think Digg , StumbleUpon, or Delicious are that good for getting traffic. maybe I'm missing something.

      sex, pills, beer, cars, diamonds

and somtimes if i'm really desperate for views, I start going double-digits and putting in tags like 'million dollars', 'free vacations', etc.

Choosing a Title for your video that will get Traffic in Google is a good idea.
Backlinking your video with traditional backlinking methods will help you rank the video so you get organic traffic.
Embedding your video into every Web 2.0 property you can find like Squidoo, Hubpages, Wordpress.com, Tumblr, etc.
Bookmarking your video at every possible bookmark site like Digg, Stumbleupon, etc...
Buying traffic using YouTubes Promoted video at http://ads.youtube.com.

There are a 1,000 things you can do.

If all else fails you can buy untargeted views to push your video into the "Most Viewed" lists on YouTube to gain Targeted Views. I wrote an article on it "Unfair Advantage of Buying YouTube Views"

Blackhat-wise, you can pay someone < $25 to boost it to
5K-10K and it will be rolling from there on auto-pilot.

I did this to some of my videos and 3 of them now hits 100K.
