Article marketers, would you do this with the new panda update? I need your advice!

Hey Warriors,

I'm stuck on an idea and need some advice to see if I will even make an attempt at it.

I'm sick of waiting DAYS for my articles to be approved at the popular article directories. I also don't feel like paying $97 a month to be a premium member for faster approval times.

I do offline marketing for local small businesses and need faster approval times to make the work flow smoothly.

I was thinking about starting a new article directory that focused on 24-48 hour submission approval times rather than 5-7 DAYS.

But I'm torn because of the new panda update. I also read that some article directories are down in traffic BUT at the same time others like ehow.com and a few like it have seen a boost in traffic since the update.

What would you do? Would you take a chance and create a new article directory or just continue to use the others already established?

I would appreciate any feedback!

Thanks,

Jerry

Why use an article directory at all?

Feed their articles to Web 2.0 properties like Blogger or Wordpress or Weebly. They are indexed pretty fast, and the articles go live when you post them. These types of properties may actually be more useful than standard article directories, especially considering that they aren't surrounded by distractions.

I agree, and suggest also Hub Pages.

    Hey Jerry,

I think there is room for quality niche-specific article directories, I've been thinking about doing the same myself. Personally, I wouldn't start a "we cater to all" type of article directory such as Ezine Articles, but rather one in a specific niche where I would add my own articles plus encourage submission from article writers/internet marketers as well.

It has to be quality though and remember you can do 24-48 hours approval time in the beginning, but it can become tougher and tougher to do so as you start getting more submissions, unless you have a team doing it, a team which understands the type of quality you're looking for.

Yeah, i agree. I think it would have to be niche specific. Maybe it could be niche specific then branch out to broad categories?

      Just thinking...

eHow was hit hard in the second round.

What would your article directory offer to users?

I would 'assume' that it would be starting at the bottom, with low membership and low authority. One reason people use sites like EZA, on top of syndication, is for their inherent search engine authority that has been developed, over years, with the collective contributions of tens of thousands of users.

It's no easy task getting a site like this off the ground.

IMHO, you would have to formulate a highly competitive business model that shares revenue.
