One tweak that increased my opt-ins by %17

I have created an example page with non working links so I'm not self promoting and this example page will not reveal my money site.

What I am displaying here are a few things that have increased my opt-ins by use of simple psychology.

First, note that people don't like to do what they are told, I am using an arrow obnoxiously pointing toward the paid option.

Furthermore I am giving them a choice, a paid option and a no-brainer, "download free" option.

Which would you choose? Pay $97 or download for free?

Let me ask you this: Would you be more likely to give me your email if I just said, "Here, download my free product." or "here, you can buy my product for $97 or you can download it for free..."

Which would you be more likely to respond to?

Everything is above the fold...

There are testimonials...

this page is working, not like gangbusters, but it gave me a little bump in opt-ins ( on the real page, not the example I make for you... )

I welcome any comments and expert ninja skills on how to drastically improve my experimentation with "above the fold" pages...

here is the example page:

Thanks man. Have you tried anything like this and if so, what were you results?

remember guys, I will be sharing the results of these tests for free to all warrior members. Your suggestions, when added together will make this format viable and possibly shape how things are done now, as you know the IM community is getting increasingly jaded and is badly in need of radical changes!

I never actually thought of using that idea method. Normally I'd intend on giving it away for free anyway, but if you do give them a choice, then it adds some value to the "free" offer.

Just found this other thread - you know what would add even MORE weight?

    Publish the book.

Yes, publish the book on Amazon (you can do this for next to nothing with Amazon Createspace)

Price it at 97 bucks, SHOW PEOPLE the book (put a link saying "Here is the book, what I normally charge") or, since I don't have printing/shipping costs, you can pick it up here (or a sample of it) for free.

I have found this to REALLY jack up conversions.

    Why?

The implicit authority you gain by having a "published book" on Amazon.com

That carries over to your site, and will jack up subscribe rates.

The 'either or' trick is generally a staple of most good sales pages imo. It calls them to action but by offering a choice they feel in control and are much more likely to click thru.

One good trick you can use if you have multiple products in same niche is to offer a 'Click here to download this for free' or if you're not interested try this product, also free 'Click here for this free download'

But the catch here is both links go to the same list.

I actually do something similar with a product of mine... I offer them to get it for free by tweeting about it or buying it for $37...

Someone actually bought it the other day for $37 and I was cracking up... Like "hello, all you had to do was tweet to get it free..." People don't always pay attention so you might actually pick up some sales from this as well...

In my case it was an actual sales page and I put OR GET IT FOR FREE FOR A TWEET under the buy now button...

Seems to be working okay for me... although I kinda stopped promoting it

That was my line of thinking too. If you do this maybe you can share your results with me, I want to see how this works across multiple niches...

Rob, great contribution! I knew it was a good idea to post my test here. Now we're getting into the juicy stuff.

Yea, I believe the choice thing is "unique" and therefore sets you apart from "everyone else!"

    giving away freebies is good.

However having a list of freebie seekers in not the best.

yes it's true, however we all start somewhere, it is our job to help guide the people out of this bunch to trust us enough to spend money with us.

Finding people who have their wallets open is actually more difficult than some make it seem, it exists, and is plentiful, but a lot needs to take place to get a huge steady stream of them.
