How to best promote rap beat-selling website?

Hey what's up everyone
So I just finally launched my hip hop beat selling website

I need some advice, from an internet marketer's perspective, on how best to get traffic to and promote a site like this?

Right now I'm planning on getting adwords set up and bidding on keywords like "rap beats for sale" and "hip hop beats"

So I'm wondering what else I can do to get traffic to my site. I don't reaaaally want to take the trouble to get to the top google results with SEO because the sites in all the hip hop keywords are usually good pagerank with tons of backlinks.
I'm looking for other methods of promoting a site like this without doing SEO

I know there's always hitting up artists via social networking sites and just networking with them and building relationships, but I want to find ways to make artists come to ME instead of me reaching out to them
thanks!

I have a site focused on rap beats as well and here is what I'm doing.

I am posting in the make music/make beats forums and using my sig line to promote my squeeze page.

I also have written a few articles and posted on EzineArticles with the resource box promoting my squeeze page.

My squeeze page has an opt-in so I can capture the email address. Once the guest puts in an email address I send them to the offer.

From there, I email them every day for the next week, giving them some tips and advice while promoting the offer.

      Hope that helps.

        Here's my big question.

        Does anyone actually buy these?!

I mean, seriously. Doesn't anyone SAMPLE anymore? Come on; there's an entire GENRE of music built from sliced and diced versions of the famous Apache break. Are there really people out there who buy their beats one by one off the internet?

I would build a social marketing campaign if I were you. Make profiles on facebook, myspace youtube ect. and make contacts with young and upcoming rappers, provide sample beats and promote yourself in the hip hop community, forums are also good but already mentioned. Let me know if you need advice on building a SM campaign, but I'm sure there are tons of tuts here on WF

Post on relevant forums, use facebook, and use Youtube videos. The latter will be your most effective marketing tool.

Regardless of how much you have to spend on advertising, or how good you are at finding free ad sources... there's probably someone out there that is better.

In any competitive niche, there are already sites with good rankings and/or aggressive marketing tactics. Give them a percentage of their referred sales, and let them do the "heavy lifting".

It only takes a few good affiliates to dramatically increase traffic to your site through their referrals. If they already target your market, they may very well be looking for other products to sell.

Your product can help them monetize their existing site(s), and also gives them something to tell their list about.

It only takes a few marketers with more reach into the market, to dramatically increase your site's traffic, and sales - and every time they link back to your sales page, it's a backlink (contributing, long-term, to your own SEO).

    Hope this helps,

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies, some great advice in here.
I already have aweber set up on the site to get the mailing list going.

And definitely, i'm thinking along the same lines as you guys, getting my social networking campaign going will be a huge part of my success.

I've narrowed it down to what sites I want to focus on... youtube, facebook, and twitter.

@SeoGigs, yes, I would definitely appreciate any advice on getting my social networking campaign going. Like I need specific strategies for each site...

for youtube, I'm thinking of just uploading all my beats as separate videos, and maybe making a few beat-making videos as well...
Any other tips or ideas? Should I just title all the videos "hip hop instrumental" then a number?"

for twitter, does anyone have advice on getting targeted followers? Is it just basically a matter of following people and hoping they follow you back?

    thanks yall
    -Ben

WOW this is a great idea!!!
There are very few people in the online hip hop producer community who do this. the only site i can think of that does the clickbank thing is beats365.com

Now the only problem for me is on my site I sell all my beats through the service myflashstore.net. I have no idea how clickbank could keep track of sales through myflashstore, would it be possible to set it up somehow?

i think you can start by setting up a soundclick website as well... take traffic from your personal website and send it over to soundclick. soundclick has a huge community of people buying and selling beats

I direct linked to a Clickbank make your own rap beats offer on Facebook PPC and made sales. Didn't break even but with some tweaking like building a list etc that can be made profitable. I just don't have time for it but might do it some day.

        Cheers
